This open thread is born from a comment that Mack's Mets follower Woodrow posted on one of Tom's recent articles.
The comment was, to quote "I still think the prospect that will have the best ML career will be Mauricio."
So this thread challenges all of us to opine on the same subject:
Which Mets prospect do you think will have the best major league career and why? I will separate this into two parts: the first one is for the players that have played at least a bit in Brooklyn or higher, the other one is for the 'newby' that you have the best feel about.
What do you all think? Comment away!!

He seems to be the most rounded prospect in our system.

I really like Ramirez as well.
Like Tom, I want to see the prospects cut down on the strikeouts. striking out a lot in the minors does not bode well for a long MLB career, especially for these playing 'hit first' positions (1b, 3b, lf, rf)
I would like to see Mauricio elevate the OBP. He just doesn't have a complete enough total hot tool or defensive tool working for him yet
Alvarez could be the safest bet of the high minors guys
Alvarez is having a very difficult time adjusting to AAA pitching, which is filled with ex-major league pitchers.
I like all 6 or 7 a lot.
I don't think Mauricio will be the one with the best MLB career.
He has shown average speed and average range at the AA level, which will not distinguish him from many other athletes vying for a MLB job. That means that he will have to do it with his bat. To date, a slash line of .246/.281/.467 will not even get him promoted to AAA. He has shown good power for an infielder, but based on the speed & range comment above he will only slot as a MLB outfielder in which case he will have to show an OPS higher than .748 in the minors.
What he has in his favor is age - he is a young 21, so there is time to develop a power swing, time to develop at an OF position, and time to recognize pitches better. I am by no means writing him off, but in my opinion, he has not yet shown the skill to have "the best MLB career" of the Mets prospects.

my vote is for Alex Ramirez. I don't claim to be a scout, but he looked awfully good when I saw him Friday and Saturday this past weekend vs the Jersey Shore Blue Claws, when he hit a three-run homer on Friday and a grand slam on Saturday; think he got nine ribbies in the two games. didn't get any opportunities to show off his defense in center field. hate to see him traded based upon what I saw.
