About Tuesday’s game…
Not much to say here.
At this point in the season, teams that are fighting for the playoffs begin to separate themselves in all categories from their opponents. The Braves won by six runs last night against a very good team. The Phillies won by 11.
The Mets played some AAA team named the Cincinnati Reds and couldn't even score one run against a pitching staff with a collective ERA over five.
Everyone knows our problem here.
Hey, here's an interesting stat for ya... in the last 15 games, the Mets RISP is .167.
Do not take off on Seth Lugo today. He gave up one run. That's all.
If you want to direct your (pick one) concern, anger, frustration on someone, make it Billy Appler, whow seems to be failing this month at pulling the trigger.
Ya know, you go into a night of baseball knowing your team is playing the Reds and the Braves are playing the Cards, and you pretty much know the worst the night's result is going to be is a draw.
Guess again.
Next up, today’s team is the last we will look at before checking on what our own team looks like regarding expiring contracts.

1B Jesus Aguilar
2022 stats - 0.0-WAR, 270-AB, .252, 10-HR
Aguilar is being paid $7.3mil this season and has a 2023 opt-in of $0.075mil.
Mack - This would probably be my last option for a DH and only if we did nothing more than pick up his salary, I’m not trading some prospect for three months of this guy.
3B-2B Joey Wendle
2022 stats - 0.6-WAR, 97-AB, .289, 2-HR
2022 salary: $4.55mil with a $0.075mil mutual opt in 2023.
Mack - the Mets do not need another middle infielder, nor do they need a DH with no pop. Pass.
RHRP Anthony Bass
2022 stats - 34-apps, 1.3-WAR, 1-3, 1.60, 33.2-IP, 30-K
2022 salary: $3mil with a $1mil club opt in 2023.
Mack - Would love to have this guy in my pen. Miami is going nowhere and they love to trade for prospects. Still, they wouldn’t get one of the top ones in my chain for a three month rental.
CF Billy Hamilton

Sal Stewart is an 6-3/215 18-year old third baseman, out of Westminster Christian HS (FL).
MLB.com says this about Stewart:
Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 55 | Run: 30 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 50
Westminster Christian School in the Miami area has generated some serious baseball talent over the years, led by Alex Rodriguez, and most recently, Royals prospect MJ Melendez. Stewart could be next in line in terms of hitters with thump to come from the school after showing off his hit and power tools over the summer. That included advancing in MLB’s High School All-American Game Home Run Derby, allowing him to take hacks during the big league Derby over the All-Star break in Denver. This spring, he’s proven to be one of the better pure high school bats in the class.
Most of Stewart’s value comes from his right-handed bat. He has the chance to hit with a solid approach at the plate and legitimate raw power he already knows how to tap into. Some scouts think he’s power over hit, but there’s plenty of belief he’ll hit enough to get to the power consistently at the next level. While he’s a below-average runner, he’s more athletic than you’d think given his size for someone who just recently stopped playing basketball at a competitive level.
The lack of speed has led some to wonder where Stewart will play defensively long-term, with some thinking he might eventually have to move to first base. But his feet work fine and he has enough arm to start out as a third baseman, if a team can sign him away from his commitment to Vanderbilt.
Mack - My only thoughts here is a caution.
Vandy commits are a tough one to sign in the past.

Justin Crawford, Outfield, Bishop Gorman
Another popular landing spot for Horton here. The Mets have money and nothing should be disqualified here. Crawford gets attached to New York a lot, as does Rockwell-Heath prep shortstop Jett Williams. Orchard Lake St. Marys righty Brock Porter also gets some play here too. In any case, almost everyone in the industry expects New York to make a splash pick and flex their financial bonus pool money.

See I told you Lindor was a Beast and how about Diaz what a find. OK OK I'll admit I was wrong but just a question here: if you had to do those trades all over again would you or what would you have done differently?
Lindor is what many overlook in fixation on batting average…a power hitting SS. I expressed concerns in the past about his long term abilities, but glad we got him.
Bass would be a grab.
The Mets May give JDD and Dom til the ASB to show they belong here. Changes have to be coming…you don’t stand pat with evaporating division leads.

your telling I have Rosario, Gimenez, Josh Wolf, Isaiah Greene, Kelenic and Justin Dunn as minor league capital to trade at the start of the 2021 season? (let add crow armstrong since we wouldnt have gotten Lindors Best friend)
are you telling me would not have been in play for a Nolan Arenado (who has performed better than Lindor for 1/2 the price)
we should have just signed Springer and he would have replaced conforto this year.
Nolan and Springer greater than Lindor and that still cheaper...
plus we would have had our choice of SS and if you felt Lindor was still your guy he would have never received 346 million. probably about 200m

then with those assets you could have be in the discussions for any player especially when you include that we would have had Kelenic to dangle.

and Marte could have still been on this team he costed just money.
those trades we bad because we didnt maximize the assets.
Heck D. Smith was not maximized. that where sandy and company screwed everything because either you can scout or you cant. and the minute his value was highest (and you decided Alonzo was the 1b) he gets traded.
I would do over those trades in a instance.
they say no one is untradeable... that would be a lot of ammunition to do a lot of trades...

How is Vientos not on that list?
he hits with power and that is something that is alway in demand. He did it in the upper minors... why can he not national respect?
Vientos? K’s too much.ML pitchers will carve him up like a Thanksgiving turkey.
I think he is rated below because.of his "home run or nothing" reputation.
