Open Thread - What's in the Water in Queens?

So many guys leave the Mets and do better.

This year's Escape from Flushing edition involves Cincinnati, where Almora, Drury and Matt Reynolds have, in 540 ABs, driven in 80 runs, hit .255 and combined for 24 homers.

Kind of like Conforto numbers, and Conforto wanted a 9 figure contract over multiple years for it. Each of those 3 guys is probably lucky if he's pulling down a 7 figure salary.

Last year, it was former Mets losers extraordinaire Flexen and Sewald going a combined 23-9, while hometown star Conforto choked all year.

Meanwhile, JD Davis has all of 14 RBIs approaching the season's midpoint, and Dom Smith and the Mets' catching trio are hitting in the .190s with far too few RBIs. McCann hit very well two straight years in Chicago before coming here and forgetting how to hit.

Escobar disappoints, too.

What exactly is it with playing and - let's call it what it is - choking in Queens?

How does this happen every year with several Mets guys?

You can't obsess about players traded or dropped

Some play better elsewhere. Many don't. And some are traded for good players going forward

I don't look back and focus only a few days ahead of me.

Works for baseball too.

Mack for some it's much further ahead like Bobby Bo who looks forward to July 1 every year. Nice win today AND Brave loss and they finally get a good team to face in the Cards LGM and LGC! By the way nice series for my man EE:) Also can McCann't suck any more than he does? He makes Grote look like Bench by comparison so Alvarez please hit like crazy ASAP! Mack as far as obsessing we're Met fans it's in our DNA like I still think about things like why Berra didn't pitch Stone in game 6 in 73' so you get the picture. Also 2 WS Titles in 61 years and like the Kinks sang "I'm tired of waiting for you" but I'd rather the team makes me sing "You Really got Me" and either version the Kinks or Van Halen will do. By the way HAPPY 4TH all.

Escobar has homered in 3 straight - he was looking ahead, Mack, there you go.
