Mack - Prospect Report

Future Stars Series Digital @FSS_Digital

Georgia 2023 infielder Eric Guevara (@ericguevara04) has elite timing with a fast internal clock defensively. Originally from Panama & will be on full display at Fenway during the main event.

Joe Doyle @JoeDoyleMiLB

LSU southpaw Jacob Hasty is transferring to Missouri this year. Could end up being a pretty big get. Hasty has the clay for an *elite* breaking ball. At it's best, he can induce 15" of sweep and -15 IVB in the low 80s. He was 47% breaker usage in 2022. Must throw more strikes.

8-28-22 - Dick’s Sporting Goods All-American Classic

(@PGAllAmerican)

Travis Sykora ('23, TX) has overwhelmed hitters w/ the heater. Topped out at 100 mph. Offering sat in the upper-90’s throughout. Paired it w/ a tight SL at 85-87 mph.

https://t.co/ng40xWJhFi

8-28-22 - Joe Doyle @JoeDoyleMiLB

Best swing of the night so far has come from SS Arjun Nimmala (FL). Turned around a good heater for a liner up the middle that was caught. Freaky athlete with a ton of projection left in the frame. Bat speed, twitch, length. Big prospect.

2023 MLB DRAFT - TOP 150 PROSPECTS -

https://www.prospectslive.com/prospects-live/2022/1/15/2023-mlb-draft-prospects -

18. Roch Cholowsky

Shortstop, Hamilton

In a very deep prep shortstop class, Cholowsky stands out as having some of the highest projectability out of anyone in the class. Long, athletic frame with tons of room for growth throughout with high level actions in the dirt. He’s got fantastic range moving laterally and has the arm strength to make every throw. Hands stand out with both the glove, and even more so in the bat. Extremely hitter-ish in the box with advanced barrel control and ability to use the entire field. High level profile that should only continue to get better.

8-31-22 - Matt Collier @reillocity

USA 18U Intrasquad Trials G2

6’7” Bryce Eldridge pitched 7th (final) inning, pairing 93-94 mph armside fastball w/ 81-83 big breaker. Here are pitches 6-17 (2 swinging K around a bat-shattering 5-3 GO) after a 5th-pitch Ball 4 hit leadoff man (yes, fastball to RHB).

The 2023 MLB Draft Show has ARRIVED

We're kickin' things off with Jack Hurley (@jhurlz5), an ultra-talented OF with Hokies Baseball. Hurley is a potential 5-tool guy who hit .375 with 14 homers and 10 stolen bags in 2022. A BIG name to know.

Dick’s Sporting Goods All-American Classic @PGAllAmerican

Liam Peterson ('23, FL) showed the ability to miss bats often. FB topped out at 96 mph. Sharp CB at 78-80 mph fooled hitters often. Offering generated 5 whiffs in the inning. Florida commit

https://t.co/ugoRo7ldjV

Ryder Helfrick ('23, CA) hits this ball 104 mph (400 ft) to deep CF for triple. Strong hands and quick bat speed produces advanced power that plays to the big part of the yard. Arkansas commit

31 SS AJ Ewing

Springboro, Springboro, OH

Sweet swing from the left side, has added some muscle that's helped him drive balls around the yard. Capable up the middle defender with enough bounce and arm strength to play at shortstop. Advanced hitter that's performed against higher levels of competition, could really climb boards quickly if the physical tools take a step forward.

31 3B

Brock Wilken Wake Forest

Wilken is a middle-of-the-order power bat with an advanced approach. He had huge freshman season in both ACC and Cape Cod League play. His raw power is prodigious, and his batting practice displays frequently contain balls hit hard in a way that no one else on the field can replicate. Swing and miss is in Wilken's profile, particularly with off-speed stuff away, but he has a good eye and possesses a selective approach befitting of a man that abhors striking out. Wilken really limits his strikeouts and fights deep into at-bats to ensure such an outcome. At third base, Wilken has solid enough hands and reacts well to batted balls, but isn't very rangy due to below average foot speed. The big plus here is a rocket arm, and that helps mitigate skepticism about him sticking at third as a pro.

This is another great draft.

A notch behind 2022 but better than 2021

Lots of bats

I want our readers to be schooled on these kids way before the actual draft takes place

I am curious how many 18U American Squaders end up being successful in the majors? That would be cool to know - how many guys from ,say, 2013 made it - you follow this stuff close enough and you realize how hard it is to reach the MLB pinnacle.
