You Can Always Find Some Mets Guppies Doing Neat Stuff in the Minors
This is really a brief post about the minors, but…
First, the NY Mets had a back-and-forth battle with the Phillies.
Edwin blew another save. I hope we see the “2022 Edwin” once again.
A 6-5 win in extras. Diekman hung tough. A desperately needed win.
Schedule for the Mets’ next 6 weeks?
Looks easier than that of the first 6 weeks. Don’t despair quite yet.
Of course, the Yanks are 15 over .500, without their ace. No Bronx despair.
MINORS:
Some great pitching outings on a night where hits and runs were scarce for Mets minor league hitters…
NOLAN MCLEAN!
4 innings, 1 unearned run, NINE Ks! Wow!
- McLean on the mound is REALLY starting to impress the heck out of me.
BLAKE TIDWELL!
One run allowed in the 6th inning on a HR, 6 Ks! Nice rebound outing.
ERNESTO MERCEDES!
The St Lucie hurler 5 innings, 2 hits, 1 run 6 Ks!
- He has a gaudy 41 Ks in 26 IP this season. 20 year old 6’2” righty.
JEREMY PEGUERO!
The FCL Mets righty threw 4 hitless innings, 8 Ks!
- This year, 7 innings, 1 hit, 12 Ks!
Good pitching, fellas. ‘Nuff said. Good night.

The schedule does look easier, but historically, the Mets play down to their opposition.i guess time will tell
Aside from the pitcher merry-go-round, it will be interesting to see what other roster changes happen as the July trade deadline approaches.
Watch Blade run now
See Blade run. Run, Blade, run. It is time for the sea change in pitching to begin to happen.
McLean has barely pitched in the minors and he HAS to be turning heads with how well he is pitching in High A already..
It is weird to me that Jarvis, who has never pitched well in AAA (8.18 ERA in 55 innings), is still in AAA, while Joander Suarez, who has been great since mid July last year in AA, is not switched with Jarvis. Maybe they want to give the older Jarvis a chance. He is, after all, a week older than Suarez.
Tom we need ANY good news at this point even the morning after a crazy lucky win and of course the Diaz saga which is not good and our "favorite" month is just ahead so LGM in the right direction please.
Gary, all I can say is Megill, Peterson, Senga….and JD Martinez has woken up. Gives the offense some badly needed backbone. This offense could still be dangerous if and when Alvarez returns healthy around the end of June.
I know Megill and Peterson have been facing minors pitching, but the extremely strong strikeout to walk ratios of each and what, one run allowed, has to be hopeful.
It is just weird that Peterson is fully ready, but stuck on the 60 day IL for 10 more days.
And McNeil forget to put in at the front desk for a wake up call. You’ve overslept, Jeff. 8 RBIs, 1 HR, 15 runs scored in 166 PAs.
Did he change his name to Nido this off-season without telling anybody?
Guys without big contracts get sent down for hitting like he is. Of course, he is owed a lot of $$, needs to…wake up.
There is nothing good to say about the big league team right now. They are putting on bad performances night after night. Mental mistakes abound, the "core" of the team strings one prolonged slump on top of another, and their closer will only throw one of his two pitches which makes things very predictable regardless of how good the slider is. This team will not perform well against bad teams if they cannot perform well against good teams - the only ray of hope is that in some games the opponent will give away a few games.
Paul, hopefully playing Miami will snap them out of this.
