James Tibbs went yard again today and man, do I love this swing.
Hammered a line drive to CF at 111.3 earlier today, then hit this laser at 105.8 to extend FSU's lead. It would not be a shock to me if Tibbs ends up going in the top ten.
(at one point I had “III” as someone that might still be around when the Mets picked. Not anymore. Agree he could go in the 8- 10 range)
Griff O'Ferrall has been excellent this week and he's on the board with a tank, a dead-center HR off Jamie Arnold that went 405 feet and left the bat at 103.1 MPH. Excellent contact skills, even though he is aggressive. Surefire SS imo, looking more and more like a 2nd rounder.
(the 6-1 infielder plays both middle infield positions… scrappy. Impressive hands and a solid hitter. I too have him in the 45-55 pick range)

Cliff Godwin said ECU ace Trey Yesavage has been in the hospital the last two nights dealing with a partially collapsed lung after some chest discomfort in recent days.
He will most likely be released today and be able to resume physical activity once he gets out of the hospital
(this is really alarming news for a guy projected to be picked before the Mets pick at 1.19. I assume ECU will baby step him and this could really drive down his draft status)

Good morning Mack, a few thoughts:
With regard to Hagen Smith, great numbers, but how much good competition did he face? And, how is his control and command? Obviously, the numbers are impressive.
On Holman, 100 pitches in six innings is a bit much. Hope these kids’ arms don’t fall off.
I recall reading about Chase DeLauren and how he hadn’t fared well against top competition. Still, the Guardians took him and he is a top 30 prospect now. Scouting the tools is so much harder than scouting the stats.
Tommy WHite? Will he be available to the Mets? Any downsides?

Hagen Smith pitchers in the SEC, considered to be very good competition, so I would say he is legitimate.
This is why I still would pick Burns first over Smith
Mets still seem to be almost obsessed with velo.
And great succes with pitching lab on Tong and Orellana
So much easier to change mechanics to increase control than teach a new pitch

This is a very weak draft for starters. If you don't pick one early you may not find one serviceable starter
