Aderlin Rodriquez:

Add to this an advanced eye at the plate and he becomes one of the highest ceiling prospects in a suspect system. In the South Atlantic League playoffs, I could argue he was the best hitting prospect on a field which included two, first round draft picks in Kolbrin Vitek and Reymond Fuentes. However, Rodriguez isn’t particularly athletic, has a soft body, and long swing which he will need to cut down. If I’m the Mets, a personal trainer for Rodriguez is already in the works to be sure he’s primed for a breakout 2011 campaign.



Attendence Decline:

At 16.5 percent, the attendance decline would be the eighth-worst one-year drop in franchise history, according to ESPN Stats & Information. (The seasons in which the Mets moved into new ballparks -- 1964 and 2009 -- are omitted since the older venues had different capacities.) The worst declines: 24.6 percent in 1977 (when attendance was 13,504), followed by 23.6 percent two years later (when attendance was 9,621). Those were 98- and 99-loss seasons, during Joe Torre's tenure as manager.



Omar:


http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b692R - I don't doubt the firing part of that, but I'd be surprised if he was simply allowed to dangle like that. He still has a year on his contract paying him a couple million bucks. The Mets clearly don't get the concept of sunk costs -- See Perez, Oliver -- so they'd probably be loathe to simply write him a check to go sit on a beach someplace. Less cynically, Minaya, for all of his faults, has a reputation as an excellent scout and is on record saying that he really misses and enjoys doing it. If he's released, another team would probably hire him, and that would certainly bug the Mets. It would make sense, then, for the Mets to use him in a scouting capacity somehow. Maybe not out holding a gun down in the Texas League or whatever, but certainly helping out in some fashion.



Kirk Nieuwenhuis:


9-29-10 from: - http://buffalo.bisons.milb.com - 2010 Notes: - -Spent the majority of the season with Double-A Binghamton. Promoted to the Herd on August 5 and remained with the team for the rest of the season. -Drove in 8RBI in fi rst 8 games with the Bisons. -Hit fi rst Triple-A home run in his eighth start, August 13 in Pawtucket. -Eleven of his 27 hits went for extra-bases, with 8 doubles, 1 triple and 2 home runs. -Went a perfect 3-3 in the second game of a doubleheader, September 1 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. -Made all 29 of his starts in CF. Recorded 6 outfi eld assists in only 30 total games.



Dickey Payday:

But it’s just been taken away so many times that there’s enough people to get ahead of the situation for me.” Dickey will turn 36 next month.
