TODAY’S GAME:
This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons host the Norfolk Tides for the third game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The series is tied 1-1 after a 4-1 Bisons victory on Friday night and a 5-1 win by the Tides on Saturday. After this series, the homestand will continue on Tuesday with a four-game set against the Gwinnett Braves.
OH NELLY:
RHP Nelson Figueroa has been one of the top pitchers in the IL so far this season. His 2.57ERA through four starts ranks 11th in the International League while his 0.76 WHIP is best among IL hurlers. Figueroa has just 11 hits and five walks in 21.0 innings of work. He has not allowed more than four hits in any of his four starts with the Bisons this year. Figueroa has also gotten opposing batters to hit into six doubleplays already this season.
STARTING STRONG:
RHP Kyle Snyder kept the string of solid starts going for the Herd’s rotation. Snyder allowed just an unearned run on one hit in four innings yesterday. He also struck out six batters. In the last 10 games, Bisons starters have combined for a 2.02ERA. The group was struck out 45 and allowed just 43 hits in 58.0 innings of work.
IMPRESSIVE DEBUT:
RHP Tim McNab made his Bisons debut yesterday and gave the team three solid innings of relief. He struck out three and allowed just one hit. He even erased that baserunner with a doubleplay. Last season, McNab was 3-3 with a 5.55ERA in 50 games with New Orleans (AAA).
THE REY TO GO:
INF Argenis Reyes doubled twice yesterday and is now hitting .310 on the season. He also has 10 walks for a team-high .412 on-base percentage. If Reyes had three more plate appearances, his statistics would qualify under league minimums. He also ranks 2nd in the IL in fielding among second basemen (.989) and is tied for 1st on the Bisons with five steals.
REAL MEN WEAR PURPLE:
The Bisons players today will be wearing purple caps to support the American Cancer Society. Purple is the international color of cancer survivors. Each player has autographed a hat that will be raffled off in the concourse during today’s game (raffle tickets are $5).
