According to Adam Rubin/NYDN, Josh Thole will be the first player called up to Queens come September 1st. According to Rubin, Thole will be the only player called up at that point and others should follow as various minor league teams come to the end of their season.
Thole will be the first Met player that played in Savannah to make it to Queens, and no one deserves it more. Josh is a realy good guy, who worked so hard to get where he has. I remember the first time I met him, on the day he arrived at Grayson Stadium for his first press day, I asked him if he was excited to play here, and he said " yeah, but I'm not sure at what position. Josh was a fiirst baseman with catching experience, but the Mets had Sean McCraw and Frankie Pena on the roster and began that season alternating at first base with D.J. Wabick.
Eventually, Thole went on to playing 117 games at first, hitting .267 and earned his stripes to Lucy.
Congrats to Josh and we look forward to watching him in Queens.
