Aaron Bates or Lars Anderson coming for Wagner?

With a logjam at 1B in Boston (Victor Martinez, Youk, Kotchman) could one of the prospects coming in the Billy Wagner trade be Aaron Bates or Lars Anderson. It would make sense to move one of them in the trade, especially with the Mets having an opportunity in NY this year.

Sorry Dan Murphy, but you are better suited in a utility role. Stay tuned...

I got to watch Bates in the Cape Cod League Home Run Derby in 2005 and he won the contest by hitting the first 6 pitches he saw in the final round out of the park...pretty impressive considering he didn't use any of the 5 outs he needed to win the contest.

Either player would be a welcome addition in exchange for Wagner but Theo Epstein would never let Anderson go for so cheap. It's bad enough he has to pick up the pro rated $8MM tab for a 40 year old Tommy John case

BTW, there's a great post about the Red Sox on barstool today titled "This Red Sox Team Is Mind Boggling" If you're interested, check it out here:
