Buffal Bisons Game Notes




TODAY’S GAME:


Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Syracuse Chiefs in the final game of a two-game series from Alliance Bank Stadium (7:00 p.m.). The Herd is looking for the split after the Chiefs won last night 1-0. The Bisons are now 8-5 in their last 13 games. After tonight’s game, both teams will travel to Coca-Cola Field for back-to-back doubleheaders on Thursday and Friday.


vs. THE CHIEFS:


The Bisons are 2-9 against Syracuse this year. The Chiefs won the first eight match-ups, including sweeps at Alliance Bank Stadium (3G, April 17-19) and in Buffalo (4G, April 24-27). However, the Bisons responded by winning a three-game in two-day series at Syracuse from June 15-16 (2-1).


IN LIKE A LAMB:


INF Mike Lamb enters tonight’s game on a six-game hit streak. The veteran has averaged .450 (9-20) with three RBI and three runs scored since August 13. In the month of August, Lamb is hitting .338 (23-68) with seven doubles and 13RBI. Lamb leads the team with 43RBI, due in large part to a .337 (29-86) average with runners in scoring position.


CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK:


OF Chip Ambres’ hit streak has now reached 10 games. The veteran singled last night and has now averaged .410 (16-39) since August 9. During the streak, Ambres has six doubles, a home run, nine RBI and nine runs scored. Ambres is now the sixth different Bisons hitter to record a hit streak of at least 10 games this season.


BIG BAT:


INF/OF Nick Evans is hitting .279 (19-68) in 18 games in August. Eleven of his 19 total hits have gone for extra-bases as Evans has six doubles, a triple and four home runs to go along with 12RBI this month. He has a .574 slugging percentage in August. Going back to July, 18 of Evans’ last 34 hits have gone for extra-bases (10 doubles, 2 triples, 6 home runs).


BISONS BITS:


The Bisons pitching staff did not walk a batter last night. It was the 10th game this year the team has not given a free pass...Last night’s shutout was the first time the Herd was blanked since June 7 against Indianapolis (65 games ago)...INF Javier Castillo has five hits in his last nine at-bats over the team’s last three games.
