TODAY’S GAME:
Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons start a season-long 9-game roadtrip with the first game of a four-game series against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at PNC Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming of back-to-back doubleheader splits with Syracuse at home. After this series, the Bisons will play two in Pawtucket before a three-game series against the Red Wings in Rochester.
vs. THE YANKS:
The Bisons are 3-7 against the Yankees this year. After the Yanks swept a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field from April 13-16, the two clubs have split three straight two-game sets. The Bisons and Yanks still have two more games to play in Buffalo, NY on September 2-3.
ON THE SNYD:
RHP Kyle Snyder is making his seventh consecutive start and 12th start of the season. The veteran allowed just one run on six hits in a no-decision on Monday against Lehigh Valley. Snyder is 2-0 with a 2.81ERA in his last three outings. Overall, Snyder is 2-4 with a 4.32ERA as a starter this year.
BACK ON TOP:
OF Jesus Feliciano’s average dipped below .300 for the first time in two months this week so he responded in a big way last night. He went 5-8 in the two games of the doubleheader to raise his average back up to .304. Feliciano’s 131 hits are just two shy of tops in the International League while his average ranks him 8th in all the IL.
MONSTER MONTH:
OF Chip Ambres has made his presence felt at the middle of the Bisons lineup this month. The veteran has hit .303 (23-76) in August with eight doubles, three home runs, 16RBI and 13 runs scored. Last night, the slugger launched a three-run blast for his 10th home run of the season (7th with the Bisons). With the Herd, Ambres is hitting a solid .306 (19-62) with 25RBI with runners in scoring position.
BULLY FOR THE PEN:
RHP Jim Ed Warden has been a great addition tot he Bisons bullpen. Since his promotion on August 3, the hurler is 1-0 with a 1.59ERA and a save. He’s come in and retired the first batter in all seven of his outings and has amassed 18 strikeouts in only 11.1 innings of work.
