Carlos Delgado, Fred Wilpon, Jay Marshall, Jose Reyes... and Heading Home

Carlos Delgado:

Joelsherman1: - Was just told by David Sloane that his client, Carlos Delgado, needed more hip surgery, to miss 4 months, story to follow soon… link

Fred Wilpon:

“Our baseball people evaluated, for example, our pitchers (being) as good or better than what was on the market,” Wilpon said. “Our baseball people evaluated other positions, and we went by what they did. (Chief Operating Officer and son) Jeff (Wilpon) follows them. Jeff and I don’t pick the baseball players. They think the guys we have will prove to be better guys than some of the guys we could have gotten.” - link

-did the entire braintrust just go under the bus?

Jay Marshall:

The Mets are facing another injury issue, this time with reliever Jay Marshall. Marshall, a left-hander the Mets claimed from the Oakland A's off the waiver wire in January, has not shown up at Spring Training camp in Port St. Lucie, Fla., because of a sore shoulder that the Mets say was a preexisting injury. The Mets have asked the Commissioner's Office to void the claim and that the office is investigating the matter, because injured players should not be put on waivers. - link

Jose Reyes:

Not long ago, Reyes was actually an iron man. He played the fourth-most games from 2005-08, a four-year period in which he had 39 more steals and 15 more triples than anyone; and scored more runs than Derek Jeter or Ichiro Suzuki. When he is healthy, happy and dynamic, the Mets are usually pretty good. -
