Pedro Feliciano, Beast of the East, Dwight Gooden, Ike... and Sean Green

Pedro Feliciano:

There was once a time where I did not like Feliciano. That time has passed. After all, a left-handed reliever who can pitch over 80 innings in a season with relative success is no one to feel dislike towards. The only thing wrong with him is that he has no help yet again from the left side of the mound in 2010. Seriously, why do the Mets continue to make the same mistakes over and over again? - link

 Beast Of The East:

Last week, when Johan Santana was asked by a reporter who the best pitcher in the NL East was, without hesitation he replied, “Santana”. A couple of days later after the Phillies Jimmy Rollins caught wind of it, he disagreed and said the number one pitcher in the NL East is Roy Halladay. Take off your Mets blinders momentarily, and tell us who you think is the best pitcher in the NL East. I decided to add some other worthy candidates just to make it a little more interesting. The stats I used are from the 2009 season and are meant to provide some additional depth. Remember that some pitchers may have spent time on the DL or in the minors, so do consider their overall body of work as well as reputation and whether they are on the downside, upside or prime of their careers. - link

Dwight Goodin:

In an effort to mend relations with one of the franchise's greatest pitchers, the Mets have invited Dwight Gooden to attend Spring Training as an advisor. According to a New York Daily News report Thursday, the Mets would like Gooden to speak to young players about the difficulty of playing in New York. Gooden's off-field troubles derailed a promising career that once seemed destined to end with a trip to Cooperstown. - link

Ike:

Ike Davis - Born 3/22/1987 (22 years old) - 1B, NYM - Ike is a legitimate threat to hit 40 homers in the big leagues, and the Mets are one of the best places for a young first baseman to be right now. His refined college approach to the strike zone means he should do it without Howardesque strikeout numbers. too. One of the 2008 draft's most polished picks, Davis should be ready for MLB action in 2010.  -  link

Sean Green:

Sean Green has altered his delivery to a below-sidearm delivery. "In September I started dropping down progressively," said Green. "I carried that into the offseason, trying to find something. It feels good. It feels natural." Green is already one of the most consistent wormkillers in baseball, regardless of whether he is facing righties or lefties, but it will be interesting to see if he loses any of his effectiveness against left-handers with the more pronounced approach. Green, who turns 31 in April, posted a 4.52 ERA in 69 2/3 innings last season. - link
