9/12/10

2011 DRAFT: - Christian Montgomery, Nick Piscotty, Harold Martinez... and James Harris

Christian Montgomery:

8-27 from: - link - RHP Christian Montgomery Lawrence Central HS, Indianapolis Indiana 6'1 230 - power arm who will run fb up to 94-95, pitches at 90-91, fb mostly true and hard slider with sweep action that's inconsistent but when he's on, that pitch is above average, will rush himself and show some effort to his delivery but workable to improve. Also needs to tone up a bit and when football is over with, he can concentrate on pitching and work with a pro instructor to help smooth out his delivery. Reminds me a bit of reliever Rodney who pitches now for the Angels. Good upside!

Nick Piscotty:

9-3-10 from: - link  - 58. Nick Piscotty - RHP, 6'3" 190, Amador Valley HS (CA) - Long lean build, 87-89 mph fastball with some flat run, best pitch is 74-76 mph curveball that he OWNS, got lots of swings and misses; older brother was prospect now entering 2nd year at Stanford.

Harold Martinez:

8-27 from: - link  - 3B Harold Martinez U of Miami-Fla 6'2 195 R/R - solid hitter with 15 type HR power, solid arm strength with quick glove and range to left and to his right, runs just ok, not a flyer but not a clogger, may steal a base on occ, some comps to Moises Alou as far as approach offensively goes and comes to play and has had solid stat numbers and has done it quietly. Lots of upside left here still.

James Harris:

9-3-10 from: - link  - 59. James Harris - OF, 6'1" 175, R/R, Oakland Tech HS (CA) - A player that scouts kept watching, expecting the breakout game... it didn't happen but he played an EXCELLENT centerfield, has bat speed and strength, plays HARD, it will happen for him.
