CUTNPASTE: - Mets Skip Visit with Vets, Dillion Gee, Top 5 MiLB ERAs, Robert Manuel... and The Top 100 K/100P Leaders

Mets Skip Visit With Vets:

link  - The Mets got what R.A. Dickey called “a very needed perspective on not only your life but what it takes to preserve your life” Tuesday when a group of players and team officials visited wounded military personnel at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The event perhaps also offered perspective on the Mets’ relationship with the three most prominent players who skipped the non-mandatory event – Carlos Beltran, Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo. All three have had issues with the Mets recently.

Dillon Gee:

link  - Dillon Gee makes an excellent major league debut as the Mets defeat the Nationals 4-1. He walked three and struck out four, but only allowed two hits and one run over seven innings of work. He was extremely efficient, throwing just 86 pitches, 12 per inning. Yuneski Maya did not fare as well in his debut for the Nationals. He allowed a three run homer to Ike Davis, part of the four runs he allowed in five innings of work. He did throw strikes, however, 58 of his 87 pitches, two third.

Robert Manuel:

link  - The Rays unleash their home run bats as they defeat the Red Sox 14-5 at Fenway Park. Robert Manuel, pitching in relief, allowed three of the long balls in 1 1/3 innings of work. He’s now allowed five home runs in 8 2/3 innings of work, all of the runs charged to him this year coming on home runs. Nine of the Rays twelve hits tonight went for extra bases, including three triples by Carl Crawford.
