Cutnpaste: Team Rank For Drafting, Matt Lindstrom, Alderson at Meetings, J.P. on “Moneyball”, and Ollie as LOOGY

Team Rank For Drafting:

Mets: #12 - The Mets had 12 of 26 draft picks or free agents that made it to the majors on their 2010 roster. The Mets' infield included first baseman Ike Davis and third baseman David Wright, two former draft picks, and shortstop Jose Reyes, who was signed as an amateur free agent. Center fielder Angel Pagan is another New York draft pick. Combined, these four hit 70 of the Mets' 128 home runs. The starting rotation included Mike Pelfry and Jonathan Niese, who combined to start 63 games in 2010. - bleacher report

Matt Lindstrom:

Needing to cut payroll further in wake of the impending sale of the franchise, the Astros are looking to move reliever Matt Lindstrom and infielder Jeff Keppinger, according to a person in contact with Houston's front office - fanhouse

Alderson at Meetings:

Pardon the Mets if they aren’t impressed with a particular NL East rival for yesterday’s deal that put $126 million in Jayson Werth’s pocket over the next seven seasons. “It makes some of our contracts look pretty good,” new Mets GM Sandy Alderson said, mocking the Nationals and perhaps his predecessor, Omar Minaya. “That’s a long time and a lot of money. I thought they were trying to reduce the deficit in Washington, D.C.” - ben maller

J.P. on “Moneyball”

Ricciardi, sitting down for an interview in his hometown of Worcester last week, winced at the mention of “Moneyball.” “It’s been a farce,” he said. “Michael Lewis is an outstanding writer, but there were a lot of liberties taken with the book that really didn’t paint a lot of people in the right light.” “There’s no magic wand we’re going to be able to wave just because we’re working together and all of the sudden we’re going to be a World Series team. - metsmerized

Mack Ade
Ollie as LOOGY:

Pretty sure this has been tried before with Perez and the results weren’t impressive at all. Perez is going to be same pitcher we saw last season, who struggled mightily with his command and lack there of velocity. But you might as well see you got come Spring Training I guess. - link
