September 10th - Nats 6, Mets 3

9102013Tuesday night at Citi Field, The Nats  powered by home runs by Jason Werth , Adam LaRoche and Scott Hairston got out in front of Dillon Gee early and went on to beat the Mets 6-3.  Werth homered in the 1st, LaRoche in the 2nd. Werth added an rbi double in the 3rd and it was 3-zip Nationals. Facing 16 game winner Jordan Zimmerman, Justin Turner continued his hot hitting in the bottom of the 4th with an rbi single to make it 3-1, Wilson Ramos added an rbi single in the top of the 6th and it was 4-1. In the bottom of the 6th, Lucas Duda singled, Turner doubled and then Matt Den Dekker came through with a 2 run single and it was a one run a game. In the top of the 9th Scott Hairston connected off Tim Byrdak for a two run homer (#10) to cap the win. In the first two games of this series, the Nationals have clubbed 8 homeruns at Citi Field. Gee went 6 innings he allowed 9 hits 4 runs (all earned) he walked none and struck out 5. He takes the loss falling to 11-10. Jordan Zimmerman notches his 17th win.  Offensively for the Mets Turner and Travis d’Arnaud each had 2 hits apiece. Turner left the game with a tight hamstring…he’s now day to day. With the loss the Mets fall to 64-79 overall and 28-40 at home. Wednesday night it’s game 3 of the series. Zach Wheeler (7-4  3.38) goes for the Mets, Dan Haren (8-13  5.23) who got lit up in his last outing against the Mets looks for redemption. https://www.facebook.com/MetsForum
