Tuesday at Citi Field was the first home “Harvey Day” since
2013 and while not unhittable, Matt Harvey didn't disappoint as the Mets beat
the Phillies 6-5. Harvey started strong striking out the first two batters to
face him but then Chase Utley golfed a home run over the 338 mark right down the
right field line to make it 1-0 Philadelphia.
The Mets stormed back in the bottom of the first tying the game against David Buchanan on a RBI single by Michael Cuddyer. In the bottom of the 2nd the Mets took a 4-1 lead on a three run double my Lucas Duda that scored Juan Lagares, Wilmer Flores and Curtis Granderson.
The Phils made it a 4-2 in the 4th on an RBI single by Utley. Cody Ashe made it a 1 run game with another solo blast (1) off Harvey to make it 4-3. Travis d’Arnaud’s RBI single in the 5th made it 5-3. Daniel Murphy led off the bottom of the 7th with a solo homer to right center (1) taking advantage of Citi Field’s new dimensions to make it 6-3. Harvey went 6 innings allowing 5 hits 3 runs (all earned) he struck out 8.
The game was only the 2nd time in his MLB career where Harvey allowed 2 homers in the same game. Buddy Carlyle pitched a scoreless 7th; Sean Gilmartin started the 8th and was greeted by Chase Utley who hit his 2nd solo homer (2) of the night to make it 6-4. Rafael Montero finished up the 8th. Jeurrys Familia pitched the 9th and yielded a solo homer to former Mets Jeff Francoeur (2) but held on for his 3rd save. Harvey gets the win improving to 2-0, Buchanan takes the loss; he’s 0-2. The Mets amassed 12 hits on the day. They were led by two apiece by Wright, d’Arnaud, Granderson and Duda.
Michael Cuddyer was hit on the hand in the 2nd inning by Buchanan and left the game. X-rays were negative. Wright twisted his knee on an awkward slide stealing 2nd in the 8th and came off the field. He was diagnosed with a right hamstring strain.
With the win the Mets improve to 5-3 on the year and 2-0 at home.

this could be costly
Losing Wright and/ot Cuddyer for any length of time would be a huge blow to the Mets playoff aspirations.
Richard, glad you got to keep the house! I said earlier this year that Wright is coming off injury andno longer a kid, and to not do risky things (dive at 3rd when way ahead or behind) and the like. Stealing bases also applies. You're not a kid anymore David - leg pulls and the like are more likely as
as one ages - play it safer and stop getting hurt. WS trying to steal that base worth a trip to DL?
I can't see Cuddyer missing more than a couple of days. We know there aren't any breaks in his hand. He has a bad bruise. He may have a hard time gripping the bat. I can see him sitting today but I expect him to play by Friday.
Wright stayed in the game and then walked off the field on his on without a major limp. I'm hoping it is not to bad. I can't see him playing the next few games. He needs to rest it so it doesn't become a major problem if it isn't already. I don't see him going to the DL.
What is the minimum days for the DL?
