A day removed from their nine-inning pitchers' duel, the Sand Gnats (5-11) and RiverDogs (12-5) combine from 11 runs and 19 hits on Saturday. The RiverDogs comeback to win, 6-5.
In the first two games the Gnats totaled two runs. On Saturday, the Sand Gnats plated fourth runs in the third inning. Vicente Lupo led off the third with a double to left and came around to score onPatrick Biondi single. Luis Guillorme walked. John Mora would plate two on a bases-clearing triple. Stefan Sabol reached on a fielder's choice and Mora scores on a throwing error by Jorge Mateo.
Gnats starter RHP Josh Prevost (0-3) cruised through three innings, striking out four of his five in the game's first third. Prevost was saddled with the loss after going six innings allowing eight hits and six runs (four earned).
The RiverDogs battle back in the 5th, Austin Aune doubled and scored on Jose Javier's infield groundout. Devyn Bolasky and Abiatal Avelino would reach on back-to-back singles. Bolasky and Avelino would score on a throwing error by Pedro Perez.
With the score tied at 5, Avelino doubles and scores on Dustin Fowler's single to right. It would prove to be the game's winning run.
The Sand Gnats will send RHP Martires Arias (1-0, 3.60) to the hill for Sunday's finale, while Charleston's starter is LHP Justin Kamplain (1-1, 3.60).
