May I respectfully ask an expert like you why?
There is no space for him in the rotation. If they demote Niese, his trade value will be as low as Gee so how does this help the Mets?

Niese has pitched much better of late so it makes more sense to keep him in the rotation in hope of trading him in the next 2 weeks or so.
Matz can wait.

The return of the 6man rotation

A wild guess...maybe one or two of the other starters gets bumped for a start to cut innings and Matz stays in for one or two more starts for Niese? I'd think not, but maybe one scenario

I'm ready for the Mets to start thinking outside the box. I can't believe I'm writing this but I would have Conforto up this weekend also.
I'm ready for them to start winning. They getting great starts but the rest of the team isn't supporting them. Shake thing up.
Neise can go to the bullpen. More starts can damage his trade value as well has make it stronger. He has little value now. Matz is the better pitcher. He has nothing more to prove in AAA. No need to waste more of his quality starts in AAA.

Matz can't wait for so many reasons.

One, he's reason.

Two, he needs to relieve some of the other young arms of innings this year.

But three, the fan base needs a shot in the arm

Let's get Murphy back followed by Black. Work Black back into some kind of back end rotation with Parnell and Familia.

Put Murphy on third... move Flores to second, and return Tejada to short...

then, in early JUly, make room for Mejia.

I wonder if Mets do trade Gee and Niese if Duane Below is their 6th starter in waiting. He threw 75 innings for Tigers in 2012 and 2013, with a respectable 4.06 ERA, and has a 2.19 ERA in AAA this year.
