June 21st 2015 -- Braves 1, Mets 0

Sunday afternoon/evening in Atlanta, Matt Harvey showed up, but the Met offense didn’t. The Braves blank the Mets 1-0.  It was a pitcher’s duel between Matt Harvey and Julio Teheran.  Harvey blanked the Braves for 113 pitches and 6 2/3 innings. But on pitch 114, Pinch hitter Pedro Ciriaco singled to center field scoring backup catcher Ryan Lavarnway with the game’s only run and with that the Braves sweep this 3 game weekend series as the Mets have now dropped 5 straight overall and on this road trip. Harvey went 6 2/3 allowing 6 hits 1 run (earned) walked 1 and struck out 5. Teheran went 7 allowing just 1 hit (to Wilmer Flores) walking 2 and striking out 5.  Harvey takes the loss falling to 7-5; Teheran improves to 5-3.  Jim Johnson pitched the 9th for his 4th save. The Mets managed 4 hits on the day, two coming in the top of the 9th inning. With the loss the Mets fall to 36-35 and 10-24 on the road, the Nationals won on Sunday so the Mets now find themselves 1 ½ games behind in the NL East and are just ½ game ahead of the Braves in 2nd place.  Monday is an off day for the Mets, and then it’s off to Milwaukee to finish this road trip.  Tuesday night Tuesday night Jonathon Niese (3-7 4.21) goes for the Mets, Mike Fiers (3-7 4.50) goes for the Brewers.
