June 24th 2015 -- Brewers 4, Mets 1

The losing streak hits 7. Wednesday night in Milwaukee Jimmy Nelson held the Mets to 2 hits through 8 innings. The Brewers beat the Mets 4-1.  With the loss the Mets have now dropped 7 straight. Bartolo Colon started for the Mets. In the bottom of the first the Brewers took a 2-0 lead on a RBI single by Ryan Braun and a RBI double by Adam Lind.  In the 4th the Mets scored their only run of the game when Curtis Granderson hit a solo homer his 11th on the year and second in two nights.  In the 5th Carlos Gomez RBI single scored Braun and it was 3-1, in the 6th Scooter Gennett hit a solo homer of Colon to make it 4-1. Colon lasted just 6 innings allowing 10 hits 4 runs (all earned) walking 1 and striking out 3.  Colon gets the loss dropping his record to 9-6.  Nelson gets the win improving to 4-8. Logan Verrett pitched 2 scoreless innings out of the pen. Francisco Rodriguez notched his 15th save on the year and 2nd in two nights. The Mets only other hits aside from the home run was a single by Johnny Monell leading off the 3rd inning and a two out double by Ruben Tejada in the 9th. The Mets have now dropped all 7 games on this 8 game road swing so far. They also drop below .500 at 36-37 and are 10-26 on the road.  The Nats won Wednesday night so the Mets drop to 3 ½ games behind in 2nd place in the NL east still ½ game ahead of the 3rd place Braves.  Thursday afternoon Jacob deGrom (7-5 2.34) coming off a great start and a hard luck loss in Atlanta looks to end this losing skid. Taylor Jungmann (2-1 3.50) goes for the Brewers.
