6/20/15
Mets Minor League Games - 6-19-15
Minor League Player of The Night - thundering Captain Kirk
Honorable Mention - Johnny Monell, Danny Muno, Eudor Garcia, and the Cyclones pitching staff.
AAA - Las Vegas - (39-30) 11 - Fresno (41-27) 5
RHSP Matt Bowman - 7.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3BB, 3 K, 6.19
CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis 3-5, 2 HR, 6 RBI, .538!!
3B Danny Muno 4-5, .310
C Johnny Monell 3-5, HR, 4 RBI, .381!!
With a big lead, I'd have pulled Bowman after his fine 7 innings allowing just one run, to help deflate his 6+ ERA.
Wally blundered leaving him in, in my view, as he surrendered 3 runs in the 8th.
3 former major leaguers (see above) tore up the joint with their bats tonite. But Taijeron now has 9 Ks in the past 4 games.
AA - New Hampshire (30-36) 3 - Binghamton (35-31) 2
RHSP Robert Gsellman - 7.0-IP, 6-H, 3-R, 3-K, 3-BB, 4.70
LF Michael Conforto - 2-4, 1-R, triple, .400
Conforto is a hitting freak, folks, and that is a VERY good thing. Gsellman allowed 2 runs early but pitched very well. Cecchini is in a major cold snap, 0-4 again.
A+ - St. Lucie - no game scheduled (all-star break)
A - Savannah - (37-31) 6 - Augusta (33-34) 4
RHSP Corey Oswalt - 6.1-IP, 6-H, 1-R, 2-K, 2-BB, 4.30
3B Eudor Garcia, 3-5, HR (4), 2 RBI
SS Luis Guillorme 3-4, BB, 2 RBI, .301, 11th error
Nice hitting assault pushed the Gnats to a 6-1 lead. Corey had a fine outing, but the pen allowed 3 in the 8th to make folks nervous, but Savannah would gnat be denied.
Low-A - Brooklyn - (1-0) 3 - Staten Island (0-1) 2 , 12 innings
RHSP Tyler Baldamo - 6.0-IP. 2-H, 2-R, 5-K, 2-BB, 3.00
Badamo surrendered a 2 run homer in the 2nd, and then he and 3 relievers tossed 10 scoreless innings to secure the win. 27 strikeouts between the 2 teams.
Only Tucker Tharp had 2 hits. Brooklyn compiled 8 total hits, 7 walks and 16 Ks. Michael Bernal singled in the winning run and Gaither Bumgarner tossed the final 2 frames for the win. Good season start.
Rookie - DSL 1-Mets (9-9) 9 - DSL Mariners (9-8) 6
RHSP Edwin Germin - 4.2-IP, 3-H, 3-R, 3-K, 2-BB, 4.60
1B Domingo Martinez - 4-5, 2-R, 2-doubles, 1-RBI, .299
3B Rafael Valdez - 3-3, 1-R, 2-doubles, 1-RBI, .286
Rookie - DSL 2 - nothing listed
GOAT: Wally Backman, and the NY Mets' minor league level of offense and defense (putting it mildly).

New struggling developmental team out there. Grandy, Flores, others on it. This team plays home games at Citifield. Hope it can handle D League pitching.
