June 17th 2015 -- Blue Jays 8, Mets 0

Wednesday night at the Rogers Centre, Drew Hutchinson and the Blue Jays bullpen blanked the Mets. The Jay beat the Mets 8-0.

Jonathon Niese toed the hill for the Mets.  The Jays took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd on a RBI single by Kevin Pillar.  They took a 2-0 lead in the 6th when Chris Colabello’s RBI single scored Josh Donaldson. In the 7th Pillar hit a solo homer, his 5th on the year to cap the scoring against Niese. In the 8th,

Akeel Morris made his Major League debut completing his jump from Single A. It didn’t go well; he walked  3 and allowed 3 hits and 5 runs capped by a three run homer by Danny Valencia his 4th on the year and the game was pretty much out of reach.

Hutchinson gets the win improving to 6-1 on the year pitching 5 2/3 scoreless innings allowing 4 hits walking 1 and striking out 5.  Niese went 7 allowing 7 hits, 3 runs (earned) walking 4 and striking out 6.  Niese takes the loss falling to 3-7.  Pillar went 3 for 4 with the home-run and 2 RBI to lead the charge for the Blue Jays.

With the loss the Mets drop to 36-31 on the year and they are just 10-20 on the road.  The Nats are losing, if they lose the Mets will hold their 1 ½ game lead in the NL East. Thursday night it’s the final game of this 2 game set in Toronto.  Bartolo Colon (9-4 4.41) goes for the Mets, Former Met R.A. Dickey (2-6 5.29) goes for the Blue Jays.

Tom -

I meant to warn you when yo sent those question to Akeem not to make them so stat related, The won't let the kids answer questions like that.

What a shame this was and I can wait to hear Reese's spin on TC's decision here.

I'd give the kid a could days off in a big Montreal hotel with full 4 star service french food, then send him back to finish up strong in St, Lucie so he can end the year in Binghamton.

This never happened Akee...

Good point Mack. wasn't sure where the interview snag was. I just shruged it off and kept moving, as Akeel said he will after last night's "meet and greet" on the pitchers mound in Kaysville.

Well, Terry Collins was very complimentary ofAkeel, and they demoted him from Mets to a promo in AA, so maybe Sewald will be promoted to AAA to close.
