Jonathon Niese toed the hill for the Mets. The Jays took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd on a RBI single by Kevin Pillar. Akeel Morris made his Major League debut completing his jump from Single A. It didn’t go well; he walked 3 and allowed 3 hits and 5 runs capped by a three run homer by Danny Valencia his 4th on the year and the game was pretty much out of reach.
Hutchinson gets the win improving to 6-1 on the year pitching 5 2/3 scoreless innings allowing 4 hits walking 1 and striking out 5. Niese went 7 allowing 7 hits, 3 runs (earned) walking 4 and striking out 6. Niese takes the loss falling to 3-7. Pillar went 3 for 4 with the home-run and 2 RBI to lead the charge for the Blue Jays.
With the loss the Mets drop to 36-31 on the year and they are just 10-20 on the road. The Nats are losing, if they lose the Mets will hold their 1 ½ game lead in the NL East.
