Hot Stove - 12-5-17
Shohei Ohtani-san will be served sushi by each team he has chosen to sit naked with him in a hot tub, drinking sake, and listening to 'Asian Kung-Fu Generation'... give me a break with this guy. Please sign with Seattle so we never hear from you again.
The Texas Rangers have agreed to a multi-year deal with reliever Mike Minor. This seems to be a big loss for Sandy Alderson, who was reported to be really wanting this guy. Minor had a very positive history with our new manager so this especially stings. I'm sure that Mets Twitter will respond negatively to this news.

Yes, I am also tired of hearing about Shohei Othani-Kardashian. I think he will be a solid major leaguer, but nothing close to the hype he is currently getting.
I don't get the Rangers here.......Minor largely struggled and was later injured as a starter, recently finding success as a reliever. So, you go out and give him a decent amount of cash to be "a starter" for you? Plus, pitching in the summer heat in Texas as a 180 inning starter will put a serious strain on his arm/elbow.
I was intrigued with Minor as a lefty option for our bullpen, but I am not comfortable with him in our rotation. This may not end well for Texas and I see it more as we dodged a bullet.
There are better bullpen options for the Mets, IMO.

If there was any question about the fact that the inmates are truly running the asylum this Ohtani nonsense has really defined it. I'm just surprised we haven't heard he gets a private jet whenever he needs it and doesn't have to fly with the team.....oh wait the deals not done yet. 24 and 1 anyone?
Ohtani did not ask for all this attention that the American press is giving him. Also, anyone who leaves at least $100MM on the table by not waiting two more years, should be admired. I can't say I would have done it, but cheers to him.
Mack--- your 1st paragraph about the Sushi and Hot Tub wasn't serious, was it?
He may not have asked directly for the media frenzy, but his "questionnaire" for each team and how they were planning on using him is extremely self-centered and ludicrous. He is acting like a self-entitled "millennial" and he hasn't spent one minute in MLB yet.

Mike, he has one month to make a decision, and in lieu of the tons of money he is leaving them, I don’t see it to be such a rediculous request, especially since he has advisors.
I just get put off by the air of expectation that he has about him, despite being unproven. It’s not like Bryce Harper’s upcoming free agency tour, for example. We will see if he was truly worthy of the hype.......in time, right?
