New Met - C Jose Lobaton
The Mets signed ex-Nats catcher, Jose Lobaton, to a minorleague deal and an invitation to spring training.
The 32-year old Lobaton was originally signed by San Diego (2002) as an International free agent from Venezuela.
He has played for the Padres, Tampa Bay, and Washington.
His eight year MLB stat line is 1,085-AB, 21-HR, .218/.295/.324/619

I can hardly contain my apathy
Every team needs organizational moves.
And every minor league has 3 catchers, the 3rd primarily being a bullpen guy.
Lobatin brings 8 years of major year experience that can only be a help for Tomas Nido and, down the line, Patrick Mazeika.
I like the AAAA move.
Or it means he plans to dump Travis d'Arnaud to pay for a better brand of caviar on the Wilpons' private jet.
