Roseboom is BACK STRONG
Apparently so, Tom. I thought he wasn't going to be ready to start the season, but it looks good.
Interesting in last night's action---Our 2 Class A teams and Bingo all won, with brilliant pitching. Only ONE loss in our system, and that was the one Reese attended.
Co-incidence? Hmmmmm.
Mets need Roseboom, a lefty reliever with velocity. And it may become possible too.
I am very optimistic with this entire 2018 NY Mets team and management. No glaring deficiencies, an obvious nice chemistry, smooth and confident play, depth unlike most seasons past."T-Bone" first pitch in Bing...Homerun. Sweet. Tebow and Alonso make for a wonderful one/two HR combo there.)
Lefty pitching up here could be an important deciding factor for 2018. Really interested in seeing PJ Conlon more at this MLB level. Not yet a 100% given I realize, but he showed well last ST outing.
Remember that 2015 feeling, when the Mets went into every game and series, and all of us fans had that "we can win this today feeling?" Well, it may be coming back home now.
This should be fun!
Roseboom is very promising, but "need" is a strong term. PJ Conlon, or the other lefty who was at ST (forgot his name, begins with P I think) could become our lefty #2.
By "need" I meant that these NY Mets might need more than just the somewhat sputtering S. Matz starting and J. Blevins as their only lefty reliever. They may "need" a proven flamethrower reliever added-in as a set-up or a share closing with J. Familia.
If you study the stats, it will show that PJ Conlon is 20-12 MiLB career with 245 strikeouts in 275 innings, which is decent. But he also has a very impressive 1.07 WHIP.
There are no other lefty MiLB pitchers close to being MLB here from AAA. I do just simply cringe when the Mets consider changing a promising young starter to a reliever. It doesn't seem historically favorable to success and the risk could be "career ending" for that particular pitcher.
Thinking outloud...If the NY Mets really do want another lefty at later inning relief, then maybe a trade might workout better for them than taking PJ Conlon away from starting and then later on regretting it quite possibly? The Mets do have ample trade-bait now. And time always tells.
I want to see more of PJ Conlon starting in the bigs first.
