PREVIEW: The Rumble Ponies continue their three-game series against the Senators at FNB Field this evening. The Ponies have now won 7 of their last 9, including last night’s series opening 3-1 win.

KAY’S DOMINANCE: : Binghamton lefty Anthony Kay was in total command in last night’s victory. He allowed just 4 hits and 1 run over 7, getting the win and lowering his ERA to 1.47, the lowest amongst Ponies starters. Kay has allowed only 2 runs over his last four starts, and has not allowed more than four hits in each of those outings.

KAY CAN HIT IT TOO: Kay also had a sharp single to center in the 7th, finishing 1 for 3. Before Tuesday night’s game, Kay had never had an at-bat in his professional career. This was the first game this season the Ponies played in which the pitcher’s spot came up in the lineup.

NOGOSEK SHUTTING THE DOOR: Right-handed reliever Stephen Nogosek pitched two perfect innings, earning his first save of the year. The 24-year old dropped his ERA to 0.64 for the season.

GIMENEZ GOING YARD: Shortstop Andres Gimenez hit his second home run of the season Monday night, a game-tying opposite field blast to left that jump-started a 3-run 8th inning. Later in the frame, Braxton Lee came up with the bases loaded and hit the go-ahead and eventual game-winning two-run single.

SPEED KILLS: Ponies infielder Arismendy Alcantara had two of the three Ponies stolen bases last night, while the Senators had none. Alcantara is also hitting .500 over his last five games, with 10 hits in 20 at bats.

SENATORS LIKE THE LONG BALL: The Senators lead the Eastern League with 34 HR while the Rumble Ponies have only hit 12. Harrisburg added to that tally Tuesday night as first basemen Drew Ward hit his seventh homer of the year. Conversely, Binghamton has been more aggressive on the base paths, stealing 23 so far, (4th in EL) compared to Harrisburg’s 11 (12th in EL).

WISEMAN HONORED: Senators Outfielder Rhett Wiseman was named the Eastern League Player of the Month for April. Wiseman hit .321, with 9 HR, and 21 RBI for the month. He currently leads the team with 10 home runs.

HITTING STREAKS: Ponies Catcher Patrick Mazeika is on a season-long nine game hitting streak that started on April 27th. Outfielder Barrett Barnes is on a season-long 10-game hitting streak dating back to April 7th.

SUCCESS OUT WEST: The Ponies are 9-2 against Western Division teams this year, and 6-1 against them on the road.  Harrisburg is the third Western Division team the Rumble Ponies have faced this season (Akron and Erie are the other two).
