Metstradamus:
“Now, if I’m Luis Rojas, and I have only one chance to make a statement in a
post game meeting because the season is only 60 games, this is it. You can lose
because you can’t hit. You can lose because you can’t hit with runners in
scoring position. But the mental mistakes can’t happen. Not for Davis, who is
one of the leaders on this team, and not for Sanchez who is making his first
start in the majors.”
Luis
Rojas: Mets' sloppy doubleheader loss to Marlins must be a 'wake-up call' for
the team. Rojas called Jon Berti's steal of home 'negligence from our end'.

After starting his career 0-5, Jim
McAndrew gets his first major league victory when he goes the distance at
Busch Stadium, blanking St. Louis on five hits, 1-0. In his first four major
league starts, the Mets failed to score a run, resulting in two 2-0 and two

The Mets announce that Vince
Coleman will remain on paid administrative leave until the end of the
season, effectively ending his playing career with the team. Co-owner Fred
Wilpon's unequivocal decision that the controversial outfielder, who signed a
four-year $11.95 million contract before the 1991 season, will not ever put
on a Mets uniform again is the result of Coleman admitting to tossing a M-100
firecracker from a Jeep departing from a Dodger Stadium parking lot last
month, injuring three people.

The Mets replaced Dallas

Valentine, a former coach who left the organization to manage in Texas.
During his stormy seven-year tenure in New York, Bobby 'V' will compile a

Get the lemons and melted butter! The LOB-sters are back!
I think some of the cut-outs actually left the park early last night.

It was hard to take. The Marlins ran the bases like the 2019 Brooklyn Cyclones and the Mets couldn't handle it. What ever happened to the 2019 Brooklyn Cyclones manager? Mets may want to use that guy.
I snuck a mini-article in at 7:30, before Reese's 8:00 AM, on the subject of last night. That is my comment.
Congrats to good friends of mine, the Giolito family.
His father and I used to dream of Lucas being picked by the Mets in the draft.
Shame on us.
Mack - who did the Mets end up getting that draft and where is he now?
John
It was the 2012 draft.
Lucas went 1.16.
The Mets picked at 1.12
Gavin Cecchini
Lucas was the favorite internal pick until 2 days before the draft when they brought Gavin to Queens to take a last look see.
Thanks Mack. The last I heard was that Gavin Cecchini was released by Arizona.
Before we give up on the season, let's not forget that the top 2 teams in each division are in the post-season. And we're still ahead of the floundering Nats and Phils.
Surrender? Did we surrender when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
Giolito wasn't with the Nats for long. After one MnL season, he was traded along with 2 other TOP prospects, to the Chisox in exchange for Adam Eaton.
The trade was widely criticized as one that "could bite the Nats in the ass", and that estimate seems right on track.
If Brodie had made a deal like that, Mets fans would be tearing him apart now.
Well, they already ARE, but this trade would result in total nuclear bombing.
And the White Sox are smarting for trading Fernando Tatis Jr for James Shields. Which proves, you just never know sometimes.
