Amed Rosario is a player who you could really create a media firestorm around if you wanted to … and if you were in the media. Not to rag on the media, but it would be an easy thing to do. Like for instance I would say something like “Amed Rosario, once the top prospect in the organization, has been struggling to start this season. He’s been maddeningly inconsistent throughout his career, and he starts 2020 by hovering around the Mendoza line, trying to pull pitches on the outside part of the plate. And with Andres Gimenez taking his role as the flavor of the month, Rosario must be feeling the pressure.”
Yes, Rosario has been struggling to start this season from hell. He came into Tuesday’s game hitting .211. He always starts off a little slow, but for somebody who is supposed to be one of the offensive cogs, .211 might be slow even for him. And yes, Gimenez is the darling of the season so far. I for one love Gimenez and hope he has a future here. But I highly doubt that Gimenez is causing Rosario to press any further than he does. To me, this is normal Rosario. He’s going to have cold stretches and then bust out for a week. Think Lucas Duda with less plate discipline.

Amed's plate discipline is sub-zero. It is a shame that someone with his natural skills is so deficient in that area.
The comp to Duda is generous...Lucas was decent at plate discipline - to a fault, but he tried.
It is beyond ridiculous that Rosario has been up 76 times in 2020 without a walk, giving him a totally awful .224 OBP. Losing ballpayers do that.
Compare to Nimmo's .431.
Give me a Nimmo any day. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday (all days that Rosario has chosen not to walk on.)
Here is how bad Rosario is. Pitchers KNOW he chases pitches, so they throw a lot of balls that break off the plate - and he just swings anyway. NO WALKS, DESPITE TONS OF BALLS, NOT STRIKES, FROM PITCHERS!
I was very excited after his 2019 second half. I'd trade him now.

Rosario did not walk in 2019 after Sept 14, with 53 PAs from 9/15 to y/e.
So his count of plate appearances with no walks is an insane 129.
An INSANE 129.

Wait, Amed's not SO bad - I read this:
Mariano Duncan began 1995 with 218 plate appearances without a walk and ended 1994 with 105 walk-less PAs, so he had 323 consecutive PAs without a walk.
We need every bat we can find in this fractured rotation team we root for.
I disagree. Despite the low RISP #s, our Offense, as well as our pen, is doing just fine.
But, as I suspected before OD, the lack of rotation depth is a major problem. If we had Thor, Stroman and Wacha healthy since Day 1, we'd be at the top of the division now IMO.
Brodie failed to sign vets as backups, and our #1 replacement SP (David P) is now hurting as well.
The trade deadline is fast approaching. With the "G- men" doing very well, and Cano apparently healthy and productive, is Rosario now worth more to us in trade for a quality SP than as our starting SS?
A lot depends on the opinions of other GMs with available SPs, but I'd like Brodie to look around carefully for the next 12 days.
Bill, no trades of prospects that they think will be future stars. Rosario, maybe I'd regret that trade in the future, but he has played baseball I think for 8 years now - the flaws should be much less evident. If someone has a decent starter, I'd trade Rosey for him and stick Guillorme at SS with Gimenez (for now) the back up due to his age.
