Just spitballing here, but ... two comeback wins vs. the Yankees + Steve Cohen emerging as the clear it favorite to own the team ... top five day in #Mets history?

“Wait a second, Steve. The value of this franchise just went up.”

It's happening! As I have repeatedly told you all Jeff Wilpon isn't involved in the decision making of the sale. Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz are calling the shots. This makes it very likely Cohen will be the next owner of the #Mets https://t.co/g5d2bGtSZj

We are devastated by the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman. His transcendent performance in “42” will stand the test of time and serve as a powerful vehicle to tell Jackie’s story to audiences for generations to come. pic.twitter.com/8oU7QpdLSE

Maybe tomorrow we'll all wear 42, that way they won't tell us apart

Giants center fielder Willie Mays
breaks Ralph Kiner's record for home runs in a month when the 'Say Hey Kid'
hits a moon shot off Jack Fischer for his 17th round-tripper in an 8-3
victory over New York. The former Pirates outfielder, now a broadcaster for
the Mets on WHN radio and WOR-TV, calls the four-bagger which breaks the
monthly mark he established with 16 round-trippers in 1949 during September.

How funny that the Mets also swept a DH on the same date in 2011, considering how rare double headers are (at least until this year).
Last nite's sweep feels a little like the Mets' turnaround in August 1969.
I am assuming Matz goes today? Time for Stevie Wonder to step up big then.
I confess I missed last nite's tilt. Long, long day out, and just as I was getting home, Ali Sanchez hit into a double play and I didn't put the channel on until after the game was over. Nice for it to turn out great.
Maybe this gets Rosario going.
Nice to see Alonso hit a straight away bomb. And Dom hitting his 7th in 75 ABs? The comp to An in-his-prime Adrian Gonzalez looks better every day. In 2019 and 2020, in 252 at bats, he has 20 doubles and 17 HRs....huge power #s.
Lockett, who I've often criticized, did great, and Diaz was smoking in the closer role. Before you cringe watching him next time, remember that he has fanned 25 guys in 11 innings, which is truly sick.
Chadwick Boseman dead of COLON CANCER at age 43? How incredibly tragic - great actor. Thought he was the soon-to-be-successor to Denzel W as the world's best black male actor, if he wasn't there already. Loved him in Draft Day, 42, Black Panther, and other movies he made.
I just completed a blasting Sunday post against the 2020 Mets and then these two games happen.
Woke up to good news on the Cohen front.........nothing against ARod's group, but Cohen will be in a better position to spend on the team, even after the purchase.
But, as I suspected, the media had to sprinkle in a bit of controversy.
First it was JLo's comment about MLB missing out on a minority couple owing the team (not even close to the reason why they were not picked), then the last paragraph hatchet job on Cohen about his past and the unfounded harassment allegations against his business (not him, personally). All the while, ignoring ARod's steroid scandal.
I don't think any of the listed crap belonged in the story, but it is pretty easy to see the media trying to create drama......and, perhaps some sour grapes showing through?
In any event, I hope Cohen wraps this up shortly and the team can move onto a better future.......one without people like Jeff Wilpon!
Mike
Maybe he can buy the newspapers too and shut them down as well.
Thanks, Mack! 😘
This will put you to the test, Mack. You said very firmly that there's no way the NL owners will approve Cohen. What happens now if they don't?
Bill
I said that when I thought that the sex charges were against him, not members of his boys club.
He will make the proper personnel changes.
I was wrong.
Mike -
Miss your writing
Thanks, Mack........still dealing with a ton of personal/family issues for now, but your site is still my first stop each morning with my coffee.
Money talks the loudest and right now all the owners are hurting for money. They are hoping Cohen comes in and starts paying huge luxury taxes to fill their pockets.
Thanks for clarifying. I hope that if he does buy the team he doesn't become embroiled in a scandal.
Good points, John. But it's not all about the Benjamins. If it were, how can we explain the Rays and Twins?
Right Bill, winning is not all about the money. You have to have a good plan like the Rays and Twins have. The best plan was on display last year in Brooklyn where a team that emphasized speed, defense, fundamentals, and manufacturing runs won the championship without any of the team's so called top prospects until the playoffs when Baty and Matt Allan were added to give them playoff experience.
Bring Back Fonzie!
AMEN! Will we ever learn the full story behind his firing?
Maybe - as long as we get him back I will be happy.
