January 14, 2021 – New York Mets center fielder Brandon Nimmo was ranked fifth on MLB Network’s annual Top 10 Center Fielders Right Now! program last night. Nimmo, who ranked ninth on last year’s countdown, finished one spot ahead of 2020 AL Rookie of the Year Kyle Lewis of the Seattle Mariners and one spot behind the Boston Red Sox’s Alex Verdugo. In addition to Nimmo, teammate James McCann ranked 10th on Top 10 Catchers Right Now! on Tuesday.

Hosted by MLB Network’s Brian Kenny alongside MLB Network analysts, each Top 10 Right Now! ranking considers player performance over the last three seasons, offensive and defensive metrics, both advanced Statcast data and traditional numbers, and expert analysis by the MLB Network research team.

I continue to say that Springer is more of a hindrance than a need. He will tie up money meant for Conforto and Syndergaard and he will need Conforto’s position in two years. Just roll with Nimmo for another year ans get someone young for next year or the year after.

Sign Pillar for two years is you need another outfielder. Or, just trade for Lorenzo Cain. Familia and Valdez should do it.

Don't forget Fargas!

it looks like they just signed Jose Martinez as that right handed OF depth.

Weird . .he is not a centerfielder and not a very good fielder anywhere.

If the Mets have the DH - they can carry a defense first CF and hit him ninth.

I think the Lindor deal closes out another big contract but you never know.
