The Syracuse Mets dropped their second consecutive game in walk-off fashion to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders with a 2-1 RailRiders win on Friday night. A walk-off single was the knockout blow on Friday, while a walk-off sacrifice fly gave Scranton/Wilkes-Barre a win in game two of Thursday’s doubleheader.
There was only only run surrendered by Syracuse starting pitcher José Butto. The 24-year-old right-hander turned in his best Triple-A performance with five and two-thirds innings of one-run baseball. Butto allowed only three hits with no walks, six strikeouts, and a career-high 98 pitches thrown, including 60 strikes. More impressively, Butto retired the final 12 batters he faced.
Syracuse’s lone run came from the first batter to come to the plate after Krook exited the game. With one out in the top of the seventh, Nick Dini came to bat, facing Scranton/Wilkes-Barre reliever Emmanuel Ramirez. Dini launched a ball over the left-field wall that knotted the game up, 1-1, before Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s comeback.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (21-32, 49-73) fell to the Somerset Patriots 7-1 on Friday night at Mirabito Stadium.
Zach Ashford scored the lone Ponies run of the night with a homer off the right field batting tunnel to make it a 3-1 game in the third. It was Ashford’s fifth homerun of the season.
POSTGAME NOTES: Luke Ritter extended his hit streak to eight games… Michael Krauza pitched two scoreless innings of relief.

The Brooklyn Cyclones fell to the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Friday evening by the score of 1-0 in extra innings. The loss, coupled with a Hudson Valley win, but the Cyclones ½ a game behind the Renegades with eight games left in the regular season.
Dominic Hamel made the start for Brooklyn and had his best outing since joining the Cyclones. The righthander tossed 7.0 shutout frames, scattering three hits while striking out nine. The 7.0 innings was a career-high for the 2021 third-round draft selection.

Calvin Zeigler is going to remember this game for all the wrong reasons.
The Jupiter Hammerheads bashed out 16 hits in a 10-5 win against the St. Lucie Mets at Clover Park on Friday.
Jupiter scored six runs in the top of the first inning against two Mets pitchers. Joe Mack, Jacob Berry, Jake Thompson and Jorge Caballero strung together consecutive run-scoring hits against Mets starter Calvin Ziegler (0-5).
Ziegler was taken out after striking out Cameron Barstad on his 31st pitch of the inning.
Ziegler took the loss. He gave up five runs and four hits in 0.2 innings. It was the most hits and runs he allowed in a start this year.

Good report, Mack. But I must point out that Jake's last name is MaNGum. MaGNum is a pistol.
Ziegler needs 2022 to end and 2023 to bring better control.
Hamel - could he possibly be a Met in late 2023? That was an outstanding outing yesterday.
