OF JORDAN TAYLOR (#102)

St. John’s Country Day

One of the best table setters in the entire draft class, and there’s still nothing enough people talking about Jordan Taylor.

A linear, line drive approach with elite bat-to-ball skills allows Taylor to show off 6.2 speed regularly, and top of the class bat speed suggests there’s a chance at plus raw power at the next level. Elite actions in the outfield with a great first step and ability to cover ground behind good routes. Easy to see an impact center fielder ceiling when Taylor puts it all together.

The Florida State commit will be north of 19 and a half at draft day, but the type of polish that Taylor brings on both sides of the ball combined with an extremely athletic frame could force a team to overlook an age.

Bryce Hubbart

LHP

Florida State

Windermere, FL

When it comes to Hubbart, it's all limbs. It's an extremely funky, loud delivery that he repeats well and creates a ton of deception. To his credit, Hubbart fills up the zone despite the unique operation. Primarily a 3-pitch guy (FB, CB, CH), Hubbart has begun to work in a slurvy slider with plenty of sweep and a touch more velocity than his deeper curveball. The fastball is generally 89-92, though he's been up to 96 and his athleticism, arm speed and levers suggest those gains are coming permanently. The whole package is nasty, deceptive, wonky and effective. That may turn off some old-school scouts that seek the prototype, which Hubbart most certainly is not.

159 Tres Gonzalez OF Georgia Tech

Sandy Springs, GA

Gonzalez draws rave reviews for his approach and mature at-bats. He draws a ton of walks and avoids strikeouts. He's a slappy hitter with budding power, though he'll likely never be more than a fringe-average power hitter. It's an all-fields approach as Gonzalez lets the ball travel deep into the zone, battling into deep at-bats. There's average speed here, and Gonzalez has the instincts to swipe some bags.

 143 Trey Faltine SS Texas

Richmond, TX

Big time draft prospect in 2019 but elected to go to Texas. Extremely tooled up on the dirt, one of the better defenders in college baseball. Faltine is a promising hitter with some sneaky juice, but he struggles to get into it in-games at times. The throwing arm is comfortably above average at worst. Scouts want to see more impact from the bat because the defensive floor is substantial.

Jordan Taylor and Tres Gonzalez both look like attractive OF prospects.

Both should be around on Day 2

It's funny to see him at # 102 - his writeup is short but looks great - I wonder how his write up would have stacked up with Nimmo's when he was 6 months from being drafted.

Taylor sounds like a late first rounder. Gonzalez sounds like Isaiah Greene.
