It feels like the still-pitching Ollie Perez pitched for the Mets 100 years ago. And the Mets weren't his first team.
Championship Series starts in the Dominican tomorrow. Cano's team Vs. Gigantes.
Just 2 games in Venezuela and one in Puerto Rico tonight.
John, Cano needs all the competitive ABs he can get, as his 1 for 9 in the last two games suggests. He also needs spring training to not be delayed much so he can keep up whatever momentum he is gathering. No matter how much he plays now, he still will be 39 1/2 on Opening Day, an age where few guys have succeeded. Aaron and Mays did well at 39 and 40 (Mays actually had a lower-powered but terrific year when he was 40), but most Peter out. A Rod did well after his baseball hiatus, when he returned at age 38, but stunk at age 40.
Your age analysis is dead on Tom. Makes me not get overly confident about the upper 30's pitcher and mid 30's players we just signed
