Who Won?
Trades of Year 4: November 2017 through October 2018
2017 was kind of a disaster season, getting 70 wins with a decent 'on paper' squad. A good mix of veterans and up and comers all seem to have underperformed in 2017. The off-season did nothing to improve it. 2017-18 was marked with only one minor off-season deal and even the regular season dealings were designed to clear rather than get help as they played their way to another sub-.500 season at 77 wins.
(1) New York Mets traded Josh Smoker to the
Pittsurgh Pirates for Daniel Zamora. (01/31/2018)
(2) On a dark night in May, New York Mets traded MattHarvey to the Cincinnati Reds for Devin Mesoraco. (05/08/2018)
(3) New York Mets traded Jeurys Familia to
the Oakland Athletics for Bobby Wahl and Will Toffey. (07/21/2018)
(4) New York Mets traded Asdrubal Cabrera to the Philadelphia Phillies for FranklynKilome. (07/27/2018)
Not much to say on any of these trades. Of all the guys the Mets got back in return, the one guy I was really rooting for was Zamora. Alas, nothing. With the recent granting of free agency to Franklyn Kilome, they have nothing left from this year's trades.

Actually, I thought Mesoraco for Harvey was a very good deal at a desperate moment.
The Mets still failed, and then sold at the deadline. Oakland won the Familia trade, as he pitched well for them, and the Phillies did not get much out of Cabrera, but he still had gas in the tank after that season, he just did not do well for the Phils the rest of that season. The Wilpons loved to cut salary at the deadline. A large silver lining in the losing cloud for them.
1. Pass
2. No big loss
3. Must have been a Mets loss since we signed him again.
4. BIG loss for Mets
