LAST GAME: Danny Muno hit two home runs and drove in seven runs as the B-Mets beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 7-6 Thursday night. Logan Verrett allowed four early runs, but Muno’s grand slam and three-run home run in consecutive innings gave Binghamton a quick rebuttal. Jim Fuller relieved Verrett and threw 3.2 perfect innings of relief. He retired all 11 batters he faced and went through a stretch of striking out six straight hitters. In the ninth Andy Burns singled to Cesar Puello in right field with two runners in scoring position. Puello threw out the tying run at the plate for the final out of the game.
NEW HAMPSHIRE PITCHER: RHP Deck McGuire makes his 17th start of the season for the Fisher Cats, and his fourth against the B-Mets. In his previous three, McGuire is 2-1 with a 7.27 ERA against Binghamton. In his last start, June 29 vs. Portland, he got a no-decision after throwing 6.2 innings. He gave up four runs and five hits while striking out eight. In 89.2 innings in 2013, McGuire has struck out 84 batters. At home, he is 2-3 with a 6.75 ERA in eight starts. He was chosen by the Blue Jays as the 11th overall pick in the 2010 draft out of the Georgia Institute of Technology.
MUNO’S MONSTER GAME: Danny Muno hit two home runs in Thursday’s game. One was a grand slam and the other, a three-run home run led Muno to a seven-RBI game. He was one RBI short of the B-Met franchise record. Jorge Toca drove in eight runs on 6/25/99 against Reading.
BOTTOM OF THE ORDER COMES THROUGH: The bottom four hitters in the batting order on Thursday (Ceciliani Taijeron, Forsythe, Tovar) had great success against New Hampshire pitching. They finished a combined 9-for-18, and scored five runs in the game.
FULL-ER OF IT: Logan Verrett exited Thursday’s game after 2.2 innings (shortest of career), and was trailing 4-0. Jim Fuller provided 3.2 perfect innings of relief. He retired all 11 batters he faced, and went through a stretch of six straight batters retired. Six is the most strikeouts by a relief pitcher this season, and Fuller has earned a win in both of his last two appearances for the B-Mets.
WALTERS HOLDS ON: B-Met closer Jeff Walters earned his league-leading 22nd save of the season in Thursday’s victory. He has the fifth-most saves of any B-Met in one season in franchise history. The record is held by Jerrad Riggan; he saved 28 games for the B-Mets in 2000

ROAD WARRIORS: Thursday’s win gives Binghamton a 26-13 road record this season. In 2013, the B-Mets are 6-2 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
LOOK AT THESE ALL-STARS: The Eastern League All-Star Break begins after the conclusion of the five-game series with New Hampshire. The B-Mets are sending IF Josh Rodriguez, IF Allan Dykstra, OF Cesar Puello, RHP Logan Verrett, and RHP Jeff Walters to represent the Eastern Division. RHP Noah Syndergaard and manager Pedro Lopez will also participate in All-Star festivities. They were selected to play/ coach in the 2013 All-Star Futures Game at Citi Field during the MLB All-Star Break.
NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets and Fisher Cats continue their five game series with another game on Saturday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM and RHP Noah Syndergaard takes the mound for the B-Mets against RHP Ryan Tepera for New Hampshire.
