Mack's Mets #21 organizational prospect is......
#21 SS Amed Rosario
Bats: R Throws: R
Height: 6' 2" Weight: 170 lb
Acquired: 2012 International Signing, Dominican Republic
2013: (R) .212/.268/.303, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 0 SB (0%), 5 BB, 16 K
Amed Rosario was considered the top 16 year old prospect from the Dominican Republic last year and Sandy Alderson paid him like one with a $1.75MM bonus deal to get him to play for the Mets. Rather than playing in the Dominican Summer League, the team brought him stateside at age 17 and gave him an aggressive assignment to Kingsport while others his age toil in the Gulf Coast League. As with most 17 year olds, he is EXTREMELY raw. The batting line doesn't look pretty, the K/BB rate is bad, and he's commited 8 errors in 16 games. However it's far to early to draw a conclusion on him so I defer my opinion to fact that Alderson and company wouldn't give him all that money for nothing.

There were a tremendous amount of teams that had interest on this guy, regardless of what he uses for his first name.
We'll have to come back to him around 2016 to check the stats... look at a guy like Vincente Lupo who ate up the DSL system... now, he's hovering at .100 stateside.
These kids have to learn everything... it would be like you and I playing soccer in Bulgaria... new rules, new language, new food, new everything...
I like him as a prospect but will like him better if and when he hits .300+ in 2015 in Savannah.
These are the reasons Becerra, Rosario, and Lupo are in the #20-#30 range
on same page as you :)
