Mets Defeat Jupiter 3-2
PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA. — Kevin Plawecki’s go-ahead RBI groundout in the sixth scored Jayce Boyd and the Mets held off the Jupiter Hammerheads 3-2 on Thursday at Tradition Field.
The Mets pushed across two runs in the second to jump out to the lead. Matt Reynold’s sacrifice fly RBI scored Dustin Lawley. Charley Thurber’s two-out, RBI single to center scored Plawecki to make it 2-0.
The Hammerheads tied the score in the third on a two-run home run by Christian Yelich.
Hansel Robles allowed two runs and nine hits while issuing two walks and fanning five in his return from the disabled list.
The Hammerheads had the bases loaded with one out in the fifth before Chasen Bradford retired the final two batters in the inning to escape the jam. Bradford tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings and struck out two to earn his sixth win.
Brett Mitchell tossed two scoreless innings in relief with one walk and three strikeouts.
T. J. Chism retired the side in order in the ninth with two strikeouts for his 10th save.
Dustin Lawley had two hits to lead the Mets offense.
The Mets will host Jupiter at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Tradition Field. Matt Bowman will make the start for the Mets.
