LAST GAME: The New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeated the B-Mets, 6-5 on Friday night. Ryan Schimpf launched a go-ahead, three-run homer in the sixth inning and the team never looked back. The highlight for the B-Mets came in the sixth when Darrell Ceciliani and Blake Forsythe hit back-to-back home runs against Fisher Cat starter Deck McGuireMark Cohoon started for the B-Mets and gave up three runs and three hits in a no-decision. Ryan Fraser gave up the lead in the sixth and suffered his first loss this season. Chase Huchingson threw the final two innings on the hill and only allowed one hit. This was the first road loss for the B-Mets in more than two weeks.
BINGHAMTON PITCHER: RHP Noah Syndergaard makes his third start of the season with the B-Mets. In his last start, he gave up a leadoff home run but did not allow a run after that in a no-decision against Trenton. He threw five innings, gave up four hits, and struck out a season-high nine batters. He beat the Erie SeaWolves in his Double-A debut on June 23 after giving up two runs in six innings. Syndergaard began the season in with St. Lucie (High-A) and went 3-3 in 12 starts. He was named to the FSL All-Star team and picked up the victory in that game with a scoreless inning of relief.
NEW HAMPSHIRE PITCHER: RHP Ryan Tepera makes his 16th start of the season with the Fisher Cats, and his fourth against Binghamton. In three previous starts, he is 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA in 16.0 innings. In nine starts at home in 2013, Tepera is 4-3 with a 4.36 ERA. His last appearance was a relief outing. He got a no-decision with one scoreless inning against New Britain. Opponents are hitting .248 against him this season, and he has struck out 66 hitters in 73.0 innings. Tepera was selected by the Blue Jays in the 19th round of the 2009 draft out of Sam Houston State University.
AVOIDING BACK-TO-BACK LOSSES: The B-Mets are riding a very impressive streak of avoiding back-to-back losses. The last time they lost two games in a row came on May 23-24 against New Britain and Portland. The B-Mets have played 35 games since then.
BACK-TO-BACK JACKS: Darrell Ceciliani and Blake Forsythe were the second pair of B-Mets in 2013 to hit back-to-back home runs. Cesar Puello and Allan Dykstra both went deep consecutively on June 5th against the Trenton Thunder. In both scenarios, all of the homers were solo shots.
FORSYTHE FINDS A GROOVE: B-Met catcher Blake Forsythe is currently on a season-high six-game hitting streak. During the streak, he is 8-for-21 with two home runs, three RBI, and six runs scored. His batting average his risen 20 points in the stretch. Since June 12th, Forsythe is hitting .271 with a .479 slugging percentage.
OUTHITTING OPPONENTS: Friday’s loss was only the fifth loss for the B-Mets this season when they outhit their opponents. They outhit the Fisher Cats 10-6. This season they are 36-5 when tallying more hits than their opponents.
BIG BATS IN MANCHESTER: Binghamton has recorded at least 10 hits in each of the first two games of this series. They have had at least 10 hits in seven of the nine games played at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium this season.
LOOK AT THESE ALL-STARS: The Eastern League All-Star Break begins after the conclusion of the five-game series with New Hampshire. The B-Mets are sending IF Josh Rodriguez, IF Allan Dykstra, OF Cesar Puello, RHP Logan Verrett, and RHP Jeff Walters to represent the Eastern Division. RHP Noah Syndergaard and manager Pedro Lopez were selected to participate in the 2013 All-Star Futures Game.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets and Fisher Cats continue their five-game series on Sunday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. First pitch is set for 5:05 PM as RHP Erik Goeddel takes the mound for Binghamton against RHP Marcus Stroman for New Hampshire.
