I May Be Wrong, But

avatar - i may be wrong

Why does Sandy Alderson feel the need to go on the radio and rip on his players?  I just don't understand the logic behind this...There's nothing to be gained here.  Free Agents around the league are watching this bushleague shit, and shaking their heads--One more reason to not take calls from the Mets.  They should take notes from the well run organizations across the sporting world--Have you ever seen Bill Bellichek say anything newsworthy?  When a reporter asks him a question, they get the blandest, most vanilla answer he can think of--and thats the point.

So the Mets promoted Aaron Harang this week...I love it!  I would shut down Niese, Gee, and Wheeler for the rest of the season, and go with a Five man of Harang, Matsuzaka, Chris Schwindon, Anthony Young, and Doug Sisk.....Fourth Pick here we come!

So I read somewhere that the Mets are going to play a pair of Spring Training games in Montreal's old Olympic Stadium--Formerly the home of the Montreal Expos.  Growing up in upstate NY, I spent alot of time at Olympic Stadium, eating Pastrami sandwiches and watching the likes of Andre Dawson, and Tim Raines.  As I grew older it became Labatt Blue and Pedro Martinez/Vladmir Guerrero....  I know that MLB Baseball will never return to Montreal--but what about The Mets relocating their AAA affiliate there?  I'm not even going to pretend to understand the complicated rules surrounding moving Minor league teams, but Montreal has a history of Minor league baseaball, and its certainly a better fit than Vegas.

Recently i've noticed alot of projected 2014 Mets lineups with positions being platooned...I like it...it makes for a stronger bench, and puts the right guys in the lineup at the right time.  Juan Lagares as an everyday player is right around average, Juan Lagares playing primarily against lefties is a stud.  I'd love for the Mets to go after Danny Espinoza of the Nationals...That would give them a solid lefty/righty at shortstop, and the same at second.  Lots of lineup options and at least two decent hitters coming off the bench every night.

In the early 90's, when Lenny Dykstra was a Philidelphia Phillie, some member of the press mentioned to him that his often injured teammate Von Hayes had been traded.  His response was "Great Trade! Who'd we Get?"  Thats sort of how I feel about Frank Fransisco at this point...Why is this guy still on the team?  As far as i'm concerned he should have been gone a long time ago...trade him for a club sandwich and a bag of balls and move on--even if you have to eat half his contract.  He just doesn't belong around a team full of young baseball players.

Excellent point on Montreal.

The Mets need to come back east, snow or no snow.

IMO any team with several platoons is a non-contender.......

86' Mets only used regulars at catcher, first, and right field. They did ok.....

I love this format, great job. I'd forgotten that classic Lenny quote. It's priceless.

I would have put Doug Sisk ahead of Dice K but whatever..
If you are referring to Sandy to calling out Rueben Tejada I woul disagree with you there. They say e comes with a lazy work ethic. If that's the case then he deserves it and Sandy is setting a time that they will not be tolerated. Not a fan (dickey and Beltran trade aside) of Sandy but I'm jut sayin.

Hi Bud

Two things regarding Tejada:

1. Wouldn't it be more productive to have this conversation behind closed doors? Will it motivate him more to hear it on the Mike Francesa Show?

2. Sandy Alderson was hired to be the "Adult in the Room" Doesn't he know that agents that see this crap will always advise their clients to sign elsewhere?
