Mets Minor League Report: - April 10, 2015

Friday, April 10, 2014- 2 wins, 2 losses.  Some fine pitching efforts, with offense mostly held in check.

Mets minor league player of the day  -  Rainy Lara

Honorable Mention  -  Kevin McGowan, Akeel Morris, and Eric Campbell

AAA - Las Vegas 51's (0-2) 4 - Fresno (2-0) 8

        RHSP Matt Bowman - 4.1-IP, 8-H, 7-R, 2-HR, 1-BB, 8-K

Matt Reynolds, Kevin Plawecki, Dilson Herrera, D. Muno

        - the 4 prospects a combined 0-13, all hitless in two games

        Eric Campbell - 3-4, 1 - 2B, 1-R

         Jack Leathersich - 1.0-IP, 1-H, 2-K

         Hansel Robles - 1.1-IP, 1-H, 1-K

Matt Bowman victimized by the longball. 8 Ks in 4 1/3 is impressive.  Leathersich shows that he may be ready to overcome his AAA Obstacle. Campbell leads a surprisingly anemic offensive in the first 2 games of the season.
AA -    Binghamton Mets (1-1) 1 - Akron (1-1) 0

       RHSP Rainy Lara -  6.2-IP, 0-R, 2-H, 5-K, 2-BB, 0.00 (1-0)

       LHRP Dario Alvarez - 1.1-IP, 0-R. 0-H, 1-K, 0-BB, 0.00

       RHRP Jon Velasquez - 1.0-IP, 0-R, 1-SV

Lara, Alvarez, and Velasquez combined on a nifty 9 inning shutout, while the B Mets could only scratch out a run on an RBI by Jared King.  Nimmo again 0 for 4, folks.
A+ -    St. Lucie Mets  (2-0)  6  -  Bradenton  (0-2)  1

        RHSP Kevin McGowan -  6-1-IP, 4-H, 1-ER, 4-K, 1-BB, 1.42 (1-0)

        RF Maikis de la Cruz -     2-4, 1-R, 1-HR (1), 2-RBI, .444

        C Colton Plaia -     1-3, 1-R, 1-HR (1), 2-RBI, .429

        RHRP Akeel Morris - 2.0-IP, 0-H, 0-R, 2-K, 1-BB, 1-SV, 0.00

Another fine game by St Lucie, well pitched again with fine offense for the 2nd straight night.  Morris - does he ever surrender any hits? Colton Plaia 2 run shot.  Champ Stuart has 4 hits in the first 2 contests.
A -   West Virginia (2-0)  3  -  Savannah Sand Gnats (0-2)  1

       LHSP Brad Wieck - 5-IP, 4-H, 2-ER, 4-BB, 3-K (0-1)

       CF John Mora -  2-4, 1-RBI, .286

       LHRP Alberto Baldonado -  2.0-IP, 1-H, 0-R, 3-K, 0-BB, 0.00

Not a badly pitched game by Wieck for the Gnats in his first career start with the Mets organization, although he took the loss. Little offensive support from Gnats hitters.

Underperformer du Jour:
Matt Bowman, who did manage to strike out 1 more batter (8) than the runs he surrendered (7).

Two games do not a season make, but top prospects Reynolds, Muno, Plawecki, Herrera and Nimmo are....well, they're 0 for 34. Ouch. Who-da thunk it?
