Lexington 3 - Savannah 1

Despite Eudor Garcia's homerun for himself on his 21st birthday, the Savannah Sand Gnats fell to the Lexington Legends 3-1on Sunday afternoon at Historic Grayson Stadium. The homer was Garcia's first in the South Atlantic League in his 11th game with the Gnats (13-22).

Lexington (16-20) built a 2-0 lead through the top of the fifth against Savannah starter Matires Arias, although only one of the runs Arias allowed was earned. Arias finished seven innings for the third time this year, yielding only the one earned run while striking out six without issuing a walk.

With one out and the bases empty in the bottom of the fifth, Garcia lifted his homer, a high-arcing flyball over the right field wall to bring the Gnats within a run at 2-1.

After Garcia singled leading off the eighth inning, the Gnats worked the tying run around to third, but could not get the hit to even the game.

Lexington added a run in the ninth against reliever Dawrin Frias. Team press release
