TRADE - OF - Kirk Nieuwenhuis

The New York Mets traded OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis to the Los Angeles Angels for cash.

Mack - This leaves Las Vegas with four outfielders... Cory Vaughn, Alex Castellanos (also plays 1B and 3B), Travis Taijeron, and Kyle Johnson.

Jayce Boyd (AA: 155-AB, .310) looks to be 'next up'.

He's got the Hollywood good looks - good luck.

Jump Conforto to AAA :-)

@Thomas If only he'd take Anthony Recker with him. I might even be able to live with Tejada if they cleared out more of the obvious dead weight on the roster.

I'm rooting for Kirk

Recker could go to LA with Kirk and also try out acting. Acting like a hitter would be a good start.

If Kirk had stayed, Thor could have supplemented his minimum wage by giving them hitting lessons.

Remember, this was not a flash out of nowhere for Thor. He like most minor pitchers never get to hit. When he did about 3 weeks ago, he hit an identical HR, a tremendous double, and a lined single. How many of their major and minor league hitters play a lot but can't hit? He never gets a chance, but hits a ton when he finally does. Wow.

We have Babe Ruth playing in Queens.

Mack, Jayce Boyd is hitting .325 in 22 May games, 10 extra base hits, just 7 Ks. He might be the next one to consider. Or just stick Thor in the outfield on his pitching days off.

Tom -

It will be interesting to see how they handle this.

There really needs to be one more outfielder assigned to Las Vegas. It's a new position for Boyd, but he seems to be doing just fine with it in Binghamton.

The loss of Brandon Nimmo is sort of screwing with the soup... Boyd, Gilbert Gomez, Jared King and Eudy Pina mke up the four active outfielders in Binghamton.

St. Lucie only has three active outfielders (Michael Conforto, Champ Stewart, Mailkis De La Crus). Victor Cruzado remains on the 7-day DL

The system remains very limied when it comes to outfield talent.

What I'd like to see is Conforto to Binghamton and Savannah's Wuilmer Becerra to St. Lucie, but we'll have to see...
