June 9th 2015 -- Giants 5, Mets 0 (No-Hitter Chris Heston)

Tuesday night at Citi Field, SF hurler Chris Heston pitched a complete game no-hitter. The Giants beat the Mets 5-0.
Heston went 9, striking out 9 while hitting 3 batters. That’s it. It’s the first no-hitter pitched against the Mets at Citi Field, the first against the Mets since 1993 and the first in the majors since Jordan Zimmerman’s on September 28th 2014. The offense on the day was all San Francisco. They lumped up Noah Syndergaard pretty well. It started in the first inning as the Jints took a 1-0 lead Nori Aoki reaching on an infield single and took 3rd on a single by Joe Panik. Angel Pagan’s fielder’s choice brought home Aoki. In the 4th Heston got into the act singling to left scoring a pair of runs, his first two MLB RBI and a 3-0 Giant lead. In the 6th Matt Duffy capped the scoring on Syndergaard with a solo homer his 5th on the year to make it 4-0. In the 7th, Panik greeting Dillon Gee in his first relief appearance in 3 years with a solo homer off the facade of the Pepsi porch, also his 5th and it was 5-0 SF.
Syndergaard takes the loss falling to 2-4. He went 6 allowing 10 hits 4 runs (all earned) walking 1 and striking out 2. Heston improves to 6-4 as he pitches only the 3rd no-hitter the Mets have ever been victim too on home soil.
With the loss the Mets fall to 31-28 and are now 21-9 at Citi Field. The Nats lost to the Yankees Tuesday. The Mets stay ½ game in first in the NL East.
Wednesday night is game two of the set. It’s Harvey Day! Matt Harvey (6-3 3.05) goes for his 2nd consecutive win. Tim Hudson (3-5 4.41) goes for the Giants.

What a crock! That pitcher was getting rocked in his last few starts, especially on the road........we can't win without at least a little bit of offense!

What can really be done here?
Grandy walks are pointless when he can't steal, mets don't hit and run, and nobody can drive em in consistently anyway.
Tejada had a nice week but he's a utility guy.
Duda, for all we know, is probably playing hurt since getting plunked on knee.
Cuddyer had a hitting streak of one hit games, a couple homers, a bunch of strikeouts and can't hit with runners on base (which is kinda a problem when you're a cleanup hitter)
Lagares keeps randomly reverting back to swing at crap Lagares.
Wilmer is who he is. You just hope his one hit per game is a big one.
Then Campbell and Recker are aaaa players not worth really mentioning.

Help is on the way. Remember that. This team has been hit with more trials and tribulations than any team should have to face in two or three seasons, all before the draft. And look where we are! With D'Arnaud, Herrera, and Black (possibly Parnell) coming our way in the next week or so, Gee as a spot starter, and the depth we have now plus what we will acquire, and the state of the rest of the NL East, we are going to take this division! This kid was hot tonight, and there's not much we could have done, so drop it and let's move on to Harvey Day!

Ernest, it took 9 guys not hitting to be no hit. Recker is a subplot here. He is a No Hit Accelerant. Get someone in there in his place Who can HIT! Exclude 1 game this year, and he is 5-43 with 1 RBI. C'mon. d'Arnaud may be rusty, but get him here anyway.

Herrera should be on a plane to NY TODAY, after a no-offense game like that. 8 for 20 in rehab... Good enough.

Herrera isn't coming for one reason....Terry Collins.

I'm sure Terry has jumped at the chance to keep Tejada playing regularly and if Dilson shows up, Ruben is riding the pine again.

Which is where he should be. Ruben's week of hitting will cost the Mets a month of bad results until he's finally striped once again of his starting job.

Wow. What a lousy game for a Met fan. It's always fun to watch your team stikeout looking 3 X in the ninth when they're being no-hit! Good Lord. Not even a whimper.

Is it just me? I'm not feeling the love re. Syndergaard. Straight fastball (MLer can foul these off all day) and not enough off speed stuff/control to make him effective over the long haul. He needs more seasoning, IMO. A disciplined team like the Giants will eat him up.
