    DH Brock Peterson -  2-4, 1-R, double, 2-RBI, .318

    SS Josh Rodriguez -  1-4, 1-R, 1-HR (11), 2-RBI, .273

Cessa is stepping to the fore this season. Kudos.

J Rod and A Rod go deep in this one.

A+ -  Daytona (34-25) 6  -  St. Lucie (30-29) 5

    Game 1 - RHSP John Gant -  5.2-IP, 5-H, 4-R, 11-K, 1-BB, 2.75

                     1B Dominic Smith -  2-4, 2-RBI, .284

Akeel Morris allowed a late tying run on a 2 out walk and run scoring single. The Lucie outfield was extra deep to prevent a double. So the guy scored from first on a single! Coles took the loss.  Eleven K's in 5.2 for Gant, to no avail. He has at least one K in all of his 20 innings with Lucie.  He allowed 2 homers.

A+ - Daytona (35-25) 3 - St Lucie (30-30) 2

    Game 2 - RHSP Miller Diaz - 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 7 K, 3.58

Yeixon Ruiz had 3 hits in the 2nd end of this twin double dip.

Mack - Three Dodgers pitchers throw a no-hitter

    RHSP Ramon Laguerre - 4.0-IP, 3-H, 2-R, 4-K, 1-BB, 4.50

One bad inning for Matz last night. Niese was the better pitcher last night. In aback and forth affair, Vegas fell behind in the 819th 6-5 when Reno plated 2, then retaliated with 6 runs in the bottom half. Yep, Tovar was on base twice in that inning. His 17 steals in about 175 plate appearances is an interesting contrast to Ruben Tejada.

Matt Reynolds back on track in June (.375. 9 RBI, 9 R in 10 games). He has scored 43 and driven in 37 in 58 games from the 2 hole this year.

Is Dominic Smith really hitting .284 after that horrid start? As we've seen with Nimmo and Cecchini, you can't give up on these high school kids to soon as it takes a good year or two to just get used to the rigors of playing everyday at this level. These HS kids are used to play 2-3 times a week, now they are playing everyday and at a high level. All three of them look to be solid to great draft picks (even though many of us would have preferred Jose Fernandez to Nimmo, Wacha/Seagar to Cecchini or Peterson/Renfroe to Smith) but in with hindsight, those were nice picks by this front office. Same goes with Rosario at only 19 years old playing in St. Lucie as well holding his own.

Also, when I looked at the rosters back in late March, I thought Savannah was going to be the worst of the 4 full season rosters, with Vegas and St. Lucie teams running away with their divisions considering the talent on those rosters, which is not the case.

As we have all mentioned, wins and losses and not that important at this level, but it is nice to have these kids conditioned to winning at the lower levels so when they get to the bigs, they know how to win.

Hey Closer, Dom Smith's stats are not a misprint. In the last 4 weeks or so, he has doubled his average while doubling like crazy. Exciting surge.
