FLASH: Mets Try to Outright OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis Off 40-Man, Brewers Claim Him of Waivers

The club was attempting to move Nieuwenhuis off the 40 man roster in order to create space for the newly acquired OF Alejandro de Aza. In his 4 seasons with the Mets, Nieuwenhuis slashed .235/.309/.389 with 38 doubles, 17 home runs, 71 RBI, 83 runs scored, 12 stolen bases and a .695 OPS in 263 games.
