LAST TIME OUT : New Hampshire put up three in the fifth, two in the sixth and cruised to a 8-1 win over the B-Mets, earning a 1-1 split in the weather shortened season-opening series. Matt Oberste was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, the only B-Met with more than one hit. Tyler Pill gave up four runs on five hits in five innings pitched and was tagged with his first loss since May 5, 2014. Pill’s last two losses have come against the Fisher Cats

BINGHAMTON STARTERLHP Kyle Regnault will make his Double-A debut after spending all of 2015 with St. Lucie (High-A). Last season marked his first in the Mets organization and his first in affiliated baseball as he spent three years in the independent Can-Am league after going undrafted out of the University of Rhode Island.

HARRISBURG STARTER: RHP Austen Williams  opened 2015 with Hagerstown (Low-A) and notched a record of 8-1 with a 2.09 ERA. He was named a South Atlantic League All-Star and finished the season with Potomac (High-A) where he went 4-6 with an ERA of 2.59. Despite tonight signifying his Double-A debut it is not the highest level at which Williams has pitched. He made a spot start with Syracuse (AAA) June 6, 2015, giving up five runs in four innings against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

ROLE CHANGE:  B-Mets starter Kyle Regnault was almost entirely a reliever with St, Lucie in 2015, as he made 38 appearances out of the bullpen with only one start. The lefty tallied a 4-4 record with an ERA of 1.99 and converted seven of eight save opportunities last year. His lone start was the final game of the season and he threw only three innings with two strikeouts and one run on two hits. Regnault is not completely unfamiliar with starting; he made 13 starts in three seasons of Indy ball in the Can-Am League.

EVERYBODY PLAYS: Through the opening two contests, every B-Met position player and reliever has appeared in a game. All active position players have started a game and Jeff McNeil, Victor Cruzado, Dom Smith, L.J. Mazzilli and Kyle Johnson have started both.

WELCOME BACK: Binghamton reliever Luis Mateo made his second career appearance at Double-A in Sunday’s 8-1 loss to New Hampshire, allowing one unearned run with a strikeout in one inning. Mateo returned to the spot in which his elbow troubles began, he exited a spot start with Binghamton April 15, 2013 with elbow pain and later underwent Tommy John surgery.

LIVELY BATS:  Binghamton’s three runs in two games ranks last in the Eastern League.Harrisburg is pacing the circuit with 23 runs in three games.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW The second series of the opening homestand continues with a 6:35 PM first pitch on Tuesday. Binghamton will start RHP Rainy Lara, who made 19 starts with the B-Mets in 2015, going 9-5 with an ERA of 3.44. Harrisburg will counter with RHP Lucas Giolito, who went 4-2 with a 3.80 ERA in 8 2015 starts with the Senators.
