St. Lucie 5 - Bradenton 1

Casey Delgado baffled the Bradenton Marauders over 7.2 innings as the St. Lucie Mets won Sunday’s series finale 5-1 at Tradition Field.

Delgado limited the Marauders to one run and four hits while walking just one batter. He struck out six. He retired nine in a row until Tomas Morales started the eighth with a double. Morales scored on a sac fly and that was the only blemish on Delgado’s day.

Delgado is now 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA in three starts. The former independent baller entered the season as the sixth man in the rotation.

The Mets scored all the runs they needed in the fourth. Kevin Taylor blasted a solo home run off of Colten Brewer. Later in the inning Jhoan Urena drilled a two-run triple to center field. Urena tried to score on the play and appeared to be out at home plate, but the catcher Morales dropped the ball after tagging Urena in the chest. Urena’s run counted to make it 4-0.

John Mora finished the scoring for the Mets with a bases-loaded infield single that made it 5-0 in the fifth.

Corey Taylor retired four straight batters to end the game in a non-save situation.

Wuilmer Beccera and Lednier Ricardo each had two hits.

The Mets took two of three in the series and finished their eight-game home stand 4-4.
